It's trump that doesn't want to let it shut down. Trump does a lot of good things, but he has no problem with spending

Chip doesn't care about shutting down the government. Trump wants an unlimited credit card. Chip who actually cares about the debt doesn't want it.

I voted for Trump though wish the GOP nominee had been different. Was very supportive of Trump and glad he won the election, and not just because of the alternative.

However, this is bad Trump, VERY bad Trump. Chip Roy is what he should want EVERY GOP Rep. and Senator to be.

And I think it is a failing to read the tea leaves, the mandate he has / thinks he has, the support he had from across the country, most everyone that voted for him would want their Rep. or Senator to be in the mold of Chip Roy and not some quasi-conservative big government RINO.

I know Chip supported DeSantis initially, but once Trump was the nominee Chip supported him as the GOP ticket and has been one of the most critical and outspoken anti Biden/Harris people in Congress.

This is typical blustering Trump, and it should not have happened.

Yes. Internally. Our foreign policy suffers from a similar excess of public declarations that limit space. Roy is one of the good ones and a talking past one another needs to cleared up off-stage.

The problem with cutting spending is that the vast majority goes to entitlements, which are almost impossible to get the votes to reform. You can trim around the edges, but you won't really make a dent unless you get into SS and Medicare. DOGE seems more like a watchdog for spending that doesn't align with the values of the American people and should be a good tool for rooting out corrupt pork.

So at best, I would expect a stagnation of the growth in spending with an emphasis on cutting the corrupt waste.

Only guessing, but I doubt it's entitlements and defense Roy wants to see cuts on. I think he wants to see a meaningful reduction in discretionary spending and may also a defunding of other pork projects already on the books....well, I guess that discretionary.

I will not be surprised to see Trump attack Elon at some point on Truth Social. I fully expect it. He and Elon do not see eye to eye on spending and where we are as a country. There will be some good stuff done under Trump, but we are headed for financial disaster under him.

Trump wears his thoughts on his sleeve. That is what people love about him. All you DeSantis people go on complaining. That battle is over.
