HTS talking big game that they will to but odds are against that based on history.

TBH it wouldn't surprise me if the CIA et. al. said well Trump is going to pull us all out of here so either we do this now, or it never happens. And viola! Massive offensive happens driven by supplies and coordination and contractors courtesy of Uncle Sam.

Mostly agree with the sentiments Trump posted, but russia still have those naval bases so they did have a reason to be there besides obama.
Saw that they pulled out of those bases now 100%
Link? That's huge if true.
WSJ saying Assad is in Damascus. Hoo boy.
The Russian fleet in Tartus received orders to abandon the naval port. "They are leaving."

This is how fast red lines are getting buried, no matter if they are in the Syrian desert or Ukraine's Donbas. When it is over, then it is over, and Russians leave.

I'd like to know that too. Will Turkey let them go through the Straits to get into the Black Sea? And are the Russian ports in Crimea in good enough state to handle them? And/or protect them from attack?marcel ledbetter said:

Eliminating the Iran-Syria corridor to Hezbollah in Lebanon should be a big plus for everybody except Iran and Hezbollah, which is a win in my book.P.U.T.U said:
The speed of which HTS has risen is unnatural unless they had help from outside groups like the CIA/MI6/Massoud. In a very short amount of time multiple factions that have never played well together are working side by side, they are extremely savvy in politics, soldiers are well equipped, and their logistics is at par with western countries. To gain this much territory in a short amount of time requires a ton of supply assets, mainly fuel, weapons, and food, which the East has shown they don't understand.
Is funding HTS worth taking down Assad and reorganizing the Middle East? Is this war and the war in Ukraine worth Russias assets getting bled and losing a key naval port in the Middle East? I think the fact that China is sitting back is telling.
There are some geopolitical geniuses in the CIA but the US has shown over and over again that we excel at making things worse (enter the screwing up the end game quote from Charlie Wilson). We thought we were helping the world by our actions in Iraq but we ended up creating a bigger monster in ISIS. Now if ISIS has turned into HTS and shown to have developed into what we are seeing that is scary.

Rumors that the IL-76 carrying Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has either Crashed or carried out an Emergency Landing to the West of Homs, after having taken-off earlier from Damascus International Airport. The Aircraft descended to 1,600ft before disappearing from Radar.

The 3D @flightradar24 data of the jet widely suspected of carrying a fleeing Bashar al-Assad (via @ShabanianAram), if this isn't an entirely spoofed route, it looks VERY bad (for him), rapid decent after passing over Opposition held-territory near Homs. pic.twitter.com/szV4OBy5X0
