well you don't listen very well

Dem or not, I respect that guy.

For those concerned about people that turned it off after 30-45 minutes. That's just fine. The first 30-45 minutes were riveting with him telling the story of the assassination attempt and also containing the parts about unity and coming together.

We're trying to win an election and sway voters who'd ordinarily vote dem. Sorry, but tonight was a missed opportunity. It wasn't a disaster, but a missed opportunity for sure. He should've stuck to the humility/unification tone, been short and sweet on how he's focused on fixing the border, inflation, foreign relations, etc. Instead, he rambled on for 45 mins too long and opened up the door for criticism.
I'm not a Chris Wallace fan, obviously….but agree with what he just said on CNN, which was that Trump could've kept it short and sweet and shut the door on this election. Instead, he just opened the door a bit unnecessarily.
Put the opposition hat on. You have to if you want to win. Tonight could've been a slam dunk. Missed opportunity unfortunately.

Yes, a crap ton better than Juan Williams or some of the other lefties they've had.

Chris Wallace would never say Trump nailed anything. Even if he did exactly what was described, there is zero chance Chris Wallace would have said Trump shut the door on the election. That was the most tame and unifying Trump has ever been while staying on brand and bringing substance.

A lot of y'all are crazy. Look, I've said this many times, but I voted for Trump in 2016, sat out 2020, and was on the DeSantis train for 2024. With that said, Trump has always been very engaging and easy to listen to. I have been working all day, took a break to watch and couldn't stop listening to him talk.
As others have said, Trump has earned the right to say what he wants and for as long as he wants. He has a lot of things he wants to say and most are of interest to anybody that isn't a part of the rabid left. The left wants him to shut up because they know he's reaching people. So, they put out talking points and some conservatives buy into those talking points.
My Dad has tried to steered me away from politics the last few years . He tells me there is no reason to concern yourself with something, when you can't change it (non election years), so don't get so invested in it... My old man watched the whole Trump speech and enjoyed it.
He typically goes ~60 minutes. He went extra for Saturday. First 30 minutes is what mattered most. Everything else is just laughing at his age. It won't matter in the end. It's over.BoydCrowder13 said:zgolfz85 said:

Yep. He had a great open and first 20 minutes. Could have had a great, simple unifying speech. He already sounded light years better than Biden since he made it through a couple sentences without losing his train of thought.
But then he defaulted to the typical 90 minutes of Trump rally. Unnecessary considering he already looked far more resilient than Biden.
I'd assume most bailed after the first 30 minutes. So kind of lost the big dramatic finish. Not a big deal but wasted opportunity to finish the election.

Yes the speech was long.
Contrast it with BILL CLINTON speeches where he talked FOREVER.
Except Trump is 35+ years older and still is able to do that.
UNLIKE...a certain someone that was not named during the speech.

Again, take your Trump fan Republican hat off. That's what I'm trying to do. He could've said anything up there and you and I would still vote for the guy. That's not what tonight was for. The world's eyes were on him and he missed an opportunity. It went from humble and toned down to grandstanding and controversial comments…which didn't have to be made. We know the 2020 election was rigged…not the point tonight, yet he made probably 5 comments about cheating in 2020. Why?! Nothing matters if he misses the WH. Why the **** would he take any risks tonight or until November. Just get back into the WH and then brag as much as you want. It's not hard. You can't do anything if you don't win. It's not the time to take risks.
I fell happily victim to advertising on my Instagram account that knows me too well and there is a canvas of this showing up at my house tomorrow that says "Legends Never Die" with Trump's signature on it and the date.techno-ag said:

I wish I had as much confidence as you do. It's going to be much closer in November than what polls show. Cheating will be out of control. We need every vote we can get. Not a time to take silly risks in speeches right now.
