This is a pathetic, dramatic attempt to get a quick win from the vaccine tattle-tell. great "gotcha" post. You win, thread over.

You did it twice. If we think the US provoked an attack or that the US should t be involved then we are supporting the rape and murder of innocent women and kids. lol

Ok, so I misspoke about nukes. They irrelevant as stated above. We could have a sub in the sea next to Russia now and probably do.

Doesn't matter. It is aggressive action toward russia to suggest and work towards Ukraine joining nato. That was stupid if we weren't looking for a fight. Like
I said before, smart people in Washington know this and they did it anyways, meaning they wanted this.

**** them for that.

So you don't think Ukraine has any reason to join a defensive pact? None whatsoever?

I can't believe this question.

Putin wanted NATO to stay out of Ukraine and was going to sign a peace treaty if they did. Ukraine says no, we want NATO and their "defensive pact".

The results of that have been a Russian invasion and hundreds of thousands of dead Ukrainians. How is that "defensive pact" working so far?

Zelenski may not care about this because he is a corrupt puppet of Biden and Boris Johnson, but the people of Ukraine would go back and sign that treaty in a second if they could.

Yes, Putin is horrible, and the invasion is horrible, but it could have and should have been avoided. And it could be ended, but the warmongers of the west don't want that. They're making too much money.

And, as always, it's the masses that are suffering and being killed in a war they probably don't understand and never wanted.

Putin wanted Ukraine to be a part of Russia. How does Ukraine avoid that without war?

What makes Ukraine worth our investment given how corrupt it is? Why should we care more than its citizens?

You don't have to. And it's valid to not care and not want to spend your tax dollars assisting.

But that doesn't mean people have to then justify Russias invasion and/or support the murder and rape of the Ukrainian people.

According to?

Rape and murder are serious crimes. You should name names. Who on this thread has supported "the murder and rape of the Ukrainian people"?

If I recall, there was a military person on Texags who kept their mouth shut and didn't support a rape victim who was reporting on another military person. I honestly can't recall who that was, but that was shameful. You should name names if you know who a rapist is or if you know of someone who "supports rape and murder".

Or maybe you should be less stupid and not accuse debate of being "support for rape and murder".

Because we helped talk them into giving up their nukes in return for assurances that we would help them if they were attacked. Unless we want to send the message to countries that would be our allies that our assurances mean nothing, we need to back up what we told them.

And regardless, NATO is a voluntary organization. Any country should have the right to join without fear of invasion.

Further, even using the NATO expansion reason is justifying this invasion. It's a land grab. Nothing more.

This is an emotional response, not a rational one.

I know you have a history with Russians, but don't led that cloud rational decision making.

There are numerous countries around the world that sanction actions, directly or indirectly, that civilized conservative Americans strongly disagree with on moral grounds. Should America continuously send money to fight other peoples battles when we already have significant problems on our own soil?

We have our own problems. We are significantly in debt. We are being invaded across our own border. We are more politically polarized than we've ever been in around a century and it's not healing.

That's the issue. You want us to pay for your emotional revenge through inflation and more government spending.

you keep saying a defensive pact... a defensive pact against who? Russia, right?

A defensive pact that has taken offensive action that denied Russia membership and exists for the sole purpose of heading off Russia. Yes, Russia was threatened by this group that exists solely as an adversary of Russia moving towards their borders. You can comprehend that, but that would mean you are a reasonable and honest person in which you are not. Russia bad, US is an angel. If you hesitate on that you support rape and murder of innocent women and children.

Gee, I wonder why Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany, among others, might not see Russia as a natural fit for a defensive alliance? The people who were lauding Putin's "history lesson" sure don't seem to have a great grasp on the subject.

They kept all the USSR's nukes (in fact, we helped them get the USSR nukes located in Ukraine and Belarus), and didn't exactly disarm. I think the only way their Eastern European neighbors would have felt comfortable being in an alliance with Russia is if they were close to being on the same footing, and that simply was not the case. So, given the power disparity, and the history, it's no surprise that Russia was not invited to join NATO.

So Russia goes around invading its neighbors like Georgia and annexes a chunk of Ukraine over a water dispute. And Ukraine is supposed to just sit on its hands and not make any effort to go find allies to help it defend against further aggression? They are wrong to seek assistance from nations that promised to defend them against such aggression if they gave up their nukes?

Russia created the conditions that made Ukraine seek to join NATO, so they can't then turn around and blame NATO for forcing them to invade. Russia wanted a puppet government they could control in Ukraine. When they lost that, they invaded. All this blather about the threat of NATO and historical Russian insecurities is just that. Putin wants a Russia buffered by puppet states that it controls, just like the USSR had. All the rest is just rationalizations with a historical context used to obfuscate the real reason he invaded.

He did it because he wanted to control Ukraine and its resources and based on perceived weakness in US leadership, he thought he could get away with it if he did it fast enough. If he had succeeded in getting to Kiev and forcing the government to capitulate or evacuate within a few days, it would have worked and we would have eventually let him have it.

I don't disagree with this. It was great timing on his part and he used the NATO thing as justification. He wants a buffer, always has, and with the threat of Ukraine joining NATO, US perceived weakness, it was time to act, and he did. I don't condone it and I'm not supporting it. I'm not a Russian apologist, and not on Russia's side.

They overthrew his puppet government and we established a US puppet government which wasn't to his liking. You have two perceived titans jockeying for position. Russia is never going to bow down. We had an opportunity to bring them in the team and chose not to.

I believe there's a way that we could have kept the peace, and we have consistently chose not to do that, intentionally.

What is the end result of the war and how will the US benefit from it?

Hopefully the end results is Ukraine exists and Russia remains significantly weakened. A weakened Russia is good for the US. They do not value western ideals.

What western ideas? Tans-ing kids? Rainbow flags over every military base? Materialism? Satan statues in state houses?

You know who hates the west? The actual commies that have been imbedded in our own government for the last 100 years.

Yes, western ideals are only reduced down to LGBT issues. Brilliant insight.

A non answer then.

I believe there's a way that we could have kept the peace, and we have consistently chose not to do that, intentionally.

If you know Putin is using it as BS justification why do you repeat it?

NATO is a real threat to Russia.

We would do the same thing if the tables were turned, and we did in the one instance that is similar.
