Hmmm, maybe the lack of nuts in the video is a clue to what happened to the door.
maybe they identify as male?

New/additional video last night;

Notably from the comments, the 900ER's have the same plugs but have been through C-checks to inspect these things already so they aren't on the FAA directive.

They don't have ANY of the bolts that were supposed to "pin" the door in place.

As to the CVR... NTSB mentioned this the other day and it didn't register with me. When the cockpit door blow open during the depressurization they lost some check lists. They might have lost the emergency landing or after emergency landing checklist. That list would have as the last item, consider pulling the CVR circuit breaker. They may have done a lot from memory items.

But again... The NTSB hasn't found the bolts!

Good video. Concerning all the different failures or design changes that weren't communicated and fell thru the cracks on this type of plane:
  • Loose fasteners attaching the lower plug door hinges to the door frame
  • Missing lower door plug hinge
  • Loose or missing fasteners securing the door plug to the airframe (other aircrafts)
  • Multiple instances of the automatic pressurization control system , switching to manual mode, indicating cabin pressurization issues in the past.
  • Entire cockpit door blowing open vs. door pressure relief panels as is expected
  • Failure to disable the cockpit data recorder, resulting in lost / overwritten flight data
  • Loose or missing fasteners in the rudder control system (other aircrafts)

Video update covers a letter from FAA to Boeing's VP of QC, plus a civil suit between former Spirit employees (including some quality inspectors) and the company that has some claims they were pressured to accept defective work to get the product delivered without time consuming rework/repairs.

Sounds like they have found multiple plug doors without bolts. Sounds like Boeing and spirit are gonna have to shift their focus to quality and safety over dei bull*****

Very interesting. CEO states none of the aircraft have been returned to service. Does this mean that the inspection/verification process FAA required to have approved has not been done yet or have their findings been so bad and likely varied, forced a change to the safety directive, that has gone beyond simply the plug door or that even the design is flawed, that hasn't been published yet or did I miss it.

And we have the media now making a big deal anytime any Boeing built plane has a technical fault.

Last week it was a 737-800 developed a crack in the cockpit window. Absolutely nothing to do with the design or safety of the aircraft. The window was replaced.

Today, Blinken's C-40 (737-700) was found to have an oxygen leak so it was grounded. Fox News has a top page, breaking news headline about the "Boeing built jet" having a problem. Again, has nothing to do with the design of the aircraft.

So many people seem to want to see Boeing go under. Well, if that happens, the US economy goes with it.

Or one pops on landing, which is not an uncommon occurrence on passenger aircraft.

How is it possible for this to be a design defect?

A door blowing off the side of a plane due to bad design doesn't seem like something that would happen in 2024.

Seems more likely that someone didn't install it properly or there were missing parts.
TexasRebel

Pure speculation, but it seems like as they look at a few planes to see what the inspection process needs to consist of they are finding variances in manufacturing. That basically indicates everything that came from that line is non-conforming crap that shouldn't be allowed in the air because it wasn't manufactured as drawn.

An uncontained engine failure is a bit troubling, but that would be a GE issue.

Absolutely nothing to do with Boeing.

The media is desperate to trash Boeing anytime a plane they built has a problem, almost all of which have nothing to do with the design or construction.

And people who don't know any better automatically go along with it.

Update door plug inspections extend out to 737-900ER variants since they share the door plug design with the 737-Max 9.

I rarely quote myself, but not that far off. Fox News had a real hardon for Boeing right now, so much so that they are trying to blame them for stuff completely unrelated to the design/manufacture of the aircraft, and completely outside of Boeing's control.

Delta Boeing plane loses nose tire moments before takeoff: 'Rolled off the runway' | Fox Business

And the comment's on the Fox article show just how stupid most people truly are. They just lap up the narrative and blame DEI.

The odd thing about this is that all of the 900ER are old enough that they would have already gone through an inspection cycle that would include removing all of the interior furnishings to enable a detailed inspection of the fuselage structure.

So any issues with the fasteners should have been caught during that inspection and any defects or shortcomings (if maintenance opened or removed the door plug) would there foreaward be on the carrier and their maintenance personnel; not on Boeing.

An uncontained engine failure is a bit troubling, but that would be a GE issue.
Juan Brown (Blancolirio) did a video about this, and that GE Engine. At one time that engine had an accelerated maintenance inspection of the the low pressure shaft as it apparently had a problem with failure.

He asked in his video if anyone was aware if this increased inspection cadence was still in place or if it had been relaxed due to an enhancement or work done by GE. This engine is also used in many of the 787.

There is absolutely nothing unsafe about the GenX engine family, let alone the 747-8. This was a fairly 'common' sort of thing, that looked exciting from the ground at night.

That photo shows just how much goes into inspecting for this. Have to remove at least 2 rows of seats, a wall panel, and the insulation behind it. Should have been done before any of that was installed initially.
