Gaetz scuttled a less expensive deal for the American taxpayer. What are you talking about?

Less expensive my ass. It's been nothing but spending for the last 60 years. Saving $50 when spending $5,000 isn't saving.

The bill that passed is more expensive for the taxpayer than the one Gaetz scuttled. This is an unarguable, objective fact.

You may not like it. I may not like it. It is an objective fact.

Republicans hold one half of one branch that can make policy. This is due to their own follies. Deal with it and admit you're wrong.

Well good luck with your strategy of shutting down the government until Joe Biden and the Senate agree to sign off on Ayn Rands fantasyland wish list.
My fear is them signing off on biden's socialist wish list

The uni-party agrees completely with you. Let that sink in in regards to who has a better idea of how government should work.

You are right regarding how government currently works, which is fubar.

Gaetz is right in regards to how government should be run, especially in regards to emboldening the conservative ideology. The difference is the sheeple are balking at the opportunity of embracing the conservative ideology and instead make snarky comments and complaints about why we should continue with the status quo of slow suicide to leftism.

MAGA can't help but flush itself down the toilet.

It's too bad because I would like smaller government and lower taxes, but solid democratic rule seems the only answer (and the assured result) to return the GOP to sanity.

Of course, when the GOP has all three, they do little to have smaller govt or less spending or fix anybissie they campaign on.

It's amazing how those involved in these discussions have no idea how this works.

Senate was not passing that. Biden said he would veto it if it miraculously did pass. It was nothing but a bill to get Dems on record, which nobody gives a **** about.

Nevermind. I've changed my mind on all of this and it has nothing to do with Gaetz and his dumb reasoning or ridiculous grandstanding.

If McCarthy was too much of a ***** to get Nance out of the Speaker's office then he has to go.

The hand ringing over bipartinship and losing votes is just slowing down the inevitable. Dems aren't keeping their word anyway so why should Reps work with them. They have shown time and time again to do crazy things to get their way, see fire alarm pull, ect.

Some of us are tired of trying to keep this thing running when half the country doesn't care.

Let the Dems get a super majority in the House and Senate and they can pass whatever crazy **** they want.
Then voters may actually see Dem policy doesn't improve their lives; just makes it worse and we can finally start over once it all falls in under the weight of dumb Democratic policy.
HAHAHA....

And now that those laws are passed...they're not getting repealed. THAT'S how the Dems have been winning.

So, your plan is to help them win even more.

Just ****ing brilliant...

This is just cowardly and sad to me. The Dems keep winning because cowards like you rather keep giving up power so that you can live in a less ****ty version of the US instead of trying to fight for a much better one. Democrats have shown they are willing to burn everything down to get what they want and the GOP keeps saying please don't do that here have what you want.

And?

You want to GIVE THAT TO THEM without a fight.

Why not check directly with the alleged source, like I did, instead of waiting for a news source to maybe report it.

took me less than 5 seconds

The media is FAKE NEWS.

Except here. Then the source saying it directly is fake news and you need the media to report it.

You remember when, during the debt ceiling debate, the house passed what most considered a reasonable bill and the senate said it was DOA and Biden said he'd veto it?

The dems, at least as much as the Republicans, need to understand they don't hold all levers of govt and must also pass bills that they disagree with.

That's one of the problems though- this is a one way information street. The dems own that 4th estate of govt, so, it's never their fault, they're never to blame, they need not make any compromise, they're always reasonable and the a republicans are always trying to kill Granny, prop up big business, take away SS, or other such hyperbole.

When you do things like shutting down the government, you actually give that 4th estate AMMO that they can point to to further their narrative...

The Republicans have some leverage. But they hold one of three cards. The only play RIGHT NOW in this political makeup is incrementalism towards your goal, anyone telling you otherwise is lying to you to win your vote and take your donation. To get what you really want, you need to control all three branches with a healthy margin for your purple district colleagues. I remember the last time that happened and Republicans got their entire dream list of wonderful policies enacted by responsible public servants.
This explains why I got a Matt Gaetz "gimme sum" text this evening...

The people don't necessarily agree

https://news.gallup.com/poll/511979/neither-party-liked-gop-holds-advantage-issues.aspx

The point is, the 4th estate is an active participant in forming legislation. It's irrelevant what the Republicans do or don't do, the story is always the same. Anything they do do is ammo.

"Shutting down" the govt does none of those things. It puts some people on a temporary furlough or a couple days/weeks of work where they get back pay.

Republican infighting will not advance a conservative agenda.

Republicans have been given the greatest gift in Biden in winning next year and they're going to screw it up.

Train wreck of an economy, inflation, border disaster, domestic policies that are an abortion and Ukraine. Republicans should be killing democrats going into next year but their inability to keep their own house in order is going to foul it all up. Clowns.
