Trump backed McCarthy for Speaker, but Gaetz is an idiot for calling for the motion to vacate over what happened on Friday and Saturday.

Trump supporters are required to agree with everything Trump says and does.

DeSantis supporters can disagree with him on something and still support him overall.

But its good to see you finally dropped the veil who you support since everyone knew it wasn't DeSantis.

It's pretty wild that those people seem to think for themselves and don't feel the need to check every box when it comes to toeing their preferred candidate's line.

What? You don't say? People can think for themselves? You mean that some folks don't live in a sound bite world where they rely on a tweet to tell them how to think?

What a weak take on this.

Let's just keep with the status quo because that's the way to "fight" for liberty rather than making the tough decisions to hold the fake conservatives accountable.

Chip missed the mark by a mile for what the vote to vacate is actually is about.

Edit to add, it sure sounds like the fake tough R talk leading into election season but when push comes to shove and it's time to hold people accountable it's the peoples fault for not bending over to the will of the establishment.

MAGA sees everything in absolutes.

If you don't fully support Gaetz, then you are a McCarthy stooge. There is no way they can believe someone thinks McCarthy sucks at his job, but that Gaetz is nothing but a fool who is playing right into the Democrats' hands all because he wants to be the man who blew up the House.

DeSantis isn't supporting Gaetz. Gaetz hasn't gotten anything done either and he called what he is doing performative. His position is a more polite version of what Roy is saying that this is about figuring out how to actually solve some problems and make progress. Neither McCarthy or Gaetz seem to have much interest in that but from different angles. We need some freaking serious people who actually want to get something done not RINOs like McCarthy that just want the ego boost of being Speaker and not folks like Gaetz that just want to be Trump Light flamethrowers that sell outrage but don't actually want to get anything done.

The reality is the Dems have the WH and the Senate and we are a year away from an election. Republicans have to prioritize and be disciplined with a tight Majority in the House. Trump pushed for McCarthy and now wants to decry him because of course he does and his supporters just let it ride.

I'm just ready for a real leader who is a serious person that wants to actually get something accomplished.

You can't call yourself a principled conservative and support McCarthy. That's the disconnect. They will all change their tune now that DeSantis explained it to them.

I don't see DeSantis comments as supporting Gaetz's position, if anything he's calling out both sides of the argument for not accomplishing anything. But since I'm an adult and can think for myself vs following everything one person says and does without ever being able to criticize them about anything, I can also disagree with him on various issues. That's how it's supposed to work.

Not at all.

He seems like a sharp person but unfortunately Trump has broken him and he fails to see the difference in voting for Trump and voting against the establishment status quo.

The McCarthy vote to vacate is entirely based on whether we want to keep the status quo of drifting left or do we want to shake things up and hopefully wake up the sheeple and establishment GOP to either start acting conservative or risk the party fracturing.

I think the point is this battle should have been happening already and Gaetz has no plan. We have to deal with the reality of the situation. Trump endorsed McCarthy and pushed him and McCarthy has endorsed Trump. Can't undo all that. Can't change the super slim House Majority either. So the question is how can we come up with a real plan to get as much as possible.

The reality is the Dems DO have a plan and if we aren't careful they will pick off a few RINOs and just get a Dem or a Super RINO as Speaker and really screw us. That will be lovely.

you keep talking about "acting conservative"

does Trump "act conservative" when he expanded the debt by 7 trillion dollars?

is it "acting conservative" when you call an abortion ban "cruel"?

is it "acting conservative" when you attack real conservatives such as Governor Reynolds and Governor Kemp?

just trying to see how much hypocrisy is in this post.

Trump is the biggest failure/fraud of all time. We need to make up a new word for extreme failure to apply to anything Trump does.

Two steps left and one step right is still drifting leftward over a long period of time.

The status quo needs to be shaken up and until more people start to grasp that reality then the conservative ideology will continue it's decline.

Not going to happen with a Dem White House and Senate. That was probably the best deal we could get. Now if we had a Rep. White House and Senate it'd be a different story.

Trump doesn't control how many of us think...a point that continues to be lost on many of you...you are so wound up in Trump-hate that you can't have rational conversations with those who don't agree with every little thing you say...

And I intend to vote DeSantis if he's still viable when the Texas primary rolls around...yet another point many of you miss...

Trump is dead-wrong on McCarthy...Trump was dead-wrong about several aspects of the Covid response...

Trump has been right about other things though, and it's okay to point out his bad and his good...
