I tend to agree. The Republican Party leadership cannot hold a coalition together for damn near anything. Getting very close to the 2024 election so they need to get their **** together.TexAgs91 said:
I doubt Gaetz has enough republican votes to do this, which means he's wasting everyone's time and unnecessarily causing division in the party.
Unless his plan is to get support from democrats. But he wouldn't do that... Would he?

I doubt they're on either team, but they'll certainly use this to their advantage because Gaetz is a self-serving idiot. He's literally handing power to the Dems with this move. He knows this and doesn't care because he's just concerned with his own career path.Logos Stick said:TexAgs91 said:

Nice, something you and AOC have in common.valvemonkey91 said:

The Dems will have no more power after this than they did before.

Good. The party needs division if the choice is holding onto the last threads of conservative ideology or being the submissive lesser half allowing the leftist agenda and big bloated government like the vast majority of the GOP has done.TexAgs91 said:

Theres a difference between having a seat at the table and having a leash around your neck. He's already the former, but Gaetz is moving him towards the latter.Logos Stick said:Jeeper79 said:If the Dems keep McCarthy in power, you think he won't belong to them?Logos Stick said:Jeeper79 said:I doubt they're on either team, but they'll certainly use this to their advantage because Gaetz is a self-serving idiot. He belongs to them anyway. He agreed to the CR.
Nothing is happening between now and 45 days from now. The Dems will get what they want or will allow the government to shut down. McCarthy will give it to them.

A limited power sharing agreement with the Dems could work. Ensure that clean budget bills can come up for a vote and allow a few Dem bills be sent to the floor.

Gaetz can't succeed without the dems. So either he's on team democrat or he's only doing this for attention. Your pick.

Your premise fails because it assumes McCarthy is advocating a conservative agenda.
If Ds side with Gaetz, then they are giving power to the conservative minority of the GOP with balls. That helps the Ds in the short term with chaos, but hurts them in the long run.
If the Ds side with McCarthy, then you have your answer as to what side McCarthy helps more.

McCarthy tried to pass a bill that was much more conservative than what he passed Saturday. Gaetz tanked it. Who is helping the left again?

Gaetz is helping the left because he doesn't go along with the party? Why do we need individual representatives AT ALL if you don't allow them to vote against the party? We should just have the speaker propose laws, and the opposing party gets to decide whether their one guy agrees or not.
