As much as Biden is championing the unions, if this strike is a long one, it will be Biden that will feel the effects as the economy continues to plummet and prices continue to increase.
yes, and that's why he'll find billions to give to the automakers (without going to Congress) and they will capitulate to the unions. The only losers will be the taxpayers.Quote:

Where are you getting that figure? Strike funds don't have NEAR that kind of money in them...Agthatbuilds said:

If the automakers shut down, they take an hit for unemployment for all the people they lay off.Logos Stick said:
I haven't run the numbers exactly, but if the auto makers simply shut down all operations, I estimate they could drain the union coffers in about two weeks at $500 per employee per week
Why not do that?
If the voting/leading morons at the UAW have their way, pricing will be like Japan when I was a kid where housing prices were so high at one point that Japanese banks started offering intergenerational loans !!zoneag said:

Doubt it. All my UAW fun was up in DFW. I'm doing UAS down here in Corpus. Now my complaint is how slow the university works to get everything done.pacecar02 said:

Might as well ask them to stop watching the Kardashians and whatever iteration of Jersey Shore MTV is on now. Daddy Joe will take care of them so they don't have to worry about things like money and jobs.TxTarpon said:Pull those boot straps and fix it.txags92 said:The average car buyer is upside down in their current loan and doesn't have two nickels to rub together other than the day they cash their paycheck.TxTarpon said:txags92 said:pacecar02 said:TxTarpon said:Aggie Jurist said:Quote:

Kind of hard to do when you are like the country dog in city. The government and inflation is trying to screw you if you sit still or bite you in the ass if you run.
Then that is their problem.txags92 said:

United Auto Workers (UAW) president Shawn Fain made it clear he doesn't approve of former President Trump's trip next week to Detroit amid the union's ongoing strike against the Big Three automakers.
"Every fiber of our union is being poured into fighting the billionaire class and an economy that enriches people like Donald Trump at the expense of workers," UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement to CNN.

Biden has repeatedly claimed he is the most pro-union president, but Fain has yet to endorse the president, saying last week that endorsements have to be earned and members need to see "actions not words," from Biden.
"Our endorsements are going to be earned. We've been very clear about that, no matter what politician."

Good luck with all that Detroit.

UAW is set to expand the strikes beyond the currently 3 striking plants if negotiations do not show progress by noon on Friday. The only change I've seen in demands is dropping the 40% pay raise to 36%.
I listened to a segment yesterday morning on CNBC on this and they had a former female NLRB member on for her perspective. It was just another example of the dumbest people work in government. All she did was parrot the Dem talking points and tout Bidenomics as a positive.
A second male guest who is clearly educated on the topic and understands business and the impacts of all of this made her sound foolish which she was.
When asked a pointed question about the financial demands from the UAW potentially putting the auto makers in financial trouble she actually responded with "there is no basis for that happening". LOL! Yes, unions killing a company with their demands has never happened.

One day, many moons ago, when I was working in a Chem plant, I watched thousands of dollars, of my tiny project budget, get burned up as an entire construction crew waited around for two ****ing hours for ONE GUY to finish up a task, then go on his break, and then get the keys to go unlock a gate.
There was literally another outside operator in the control room who could do job, but it wasn't his day to work the area, so nah.
Unions are a ****ing Marxist scourge to modern businesses.

I am not an expert but the unions and their workers don't care about businesses going under because they still get their pensions and in the end that is all that matters.

Same here but I strongly prefer driving something with a manual. Newer stuff comes with too much stuff I don't give a crap about, hard to find with a 6 speed, and the cost is too high.
