Don't throw agriculture into the liberal arts. Plenty of people make6+ figures in the ag world. We also feed the world, so I'm going to have to give you the Will Smith treatment. Keep my college's name, out ya f'n mouth'. Get close enough and I'll slap the **** out of ya

My family of five has been living off my one income for a little over 5 years. When I told my wife that I'd like her to stay home, she was pretty happy. We had a 1 yr old at the time and a junior high kid. My salary paid the bills and we could still add to savings.

We had a surprise daughter a year ago and the oldest is a freshman in college. My salary was enough to keep the bills paid, but the savings deposits dwindled. Now, with inflation, we started dipping into savings and my wife has started a Facebook business of selling baked goods.

The cookie game has paid for the collegiate's housing and utility bill ( hes in the John Deere tech program and living in a travel trailer), but we are cutting back on a lot of things recently.

10 years ago my salary would have provided a very comfortable living for my family and we would be able to stash money in savings, even with the new addition. Now, it's just trying to keep our head above water until my bonus hits.

Neither was I when I happened to come across a response to a post from January. Staph wants to let it stay up, so fine.

That dudes either a habitual drunk, or stuck on nightshifts...not much of a difference.

Why are all liberal women ugly?
Because what is in the inside usually translates to the outside.

It is called the "ugly creep". On just has to look at a young girl in her youth, watch her become a liberal/feminist and the creep occurs.

They are patiently waiting for their loans to be repaid by responsible tax payers.

British putting a bounty on cobras in India.

They got more cobras and the lenders got more delinquent accounts.

I can't in good conscience let this thread about student loans devolve into violence.

I'll take the blame for bumping this thread.

Biden's 12-month moratorium expires.

6-million student loan borrowers now 90+ days past due.

Good. Should have never stopped paying what they owe.

Teachers have at least two different paths to loan forgiveness. If they teach at Title I schools, they can have loan forgiveness in as little as five years. And, in the Houston area, those jobs start at $60,000 a year. And, yes, all of that predates Biden.

I guess a good number of these recipients thought they'd never have to pay their loans back. They thought they could continue their barista and protesting careers.

It is typically easier to borrow money than pay it back….

First, I think there needs to be a review of the different types of loans, and reducing the type. Second, make it so all students loans can be dispensed in bankruptcy. Then let the market figure it out. Colleges will also have to tighten their belts.

I'm actually very excited to see the erosion in student lending. Hopefully it gets bad enough that it causes entire departments and some entire liberal arts schools to completely shut down. Next thing that happens would be a severe reduction in administrative jobs nationwide, followed by a sharp drop in tuition pricing.

But this assumes we let supply, demand, and free market work. With the government backing the loans, and likely to get in the way further to "save" the higher-ed bubble, anything can happen.

How long until college collapse finally takes hold... It's been at least 20 years since costs were sustainable and it doesn't seem to ever slow down.

Anything to force a reckoning at this point is fine by me.

While I agree some tightening needs to happen, be careful what you wish for. What you're describing would have some serious repercussions on the economy.

Only because it was allowed to get this way in the first place. Those repercussions are needed to get back to a healthy economy that won't be a burden on my kids when they become adults. I'm 100% for ripping the bandaid off and getting the pain over with as fast as possible.

Already happening, but most collapse is in the Midwest and northeast where they don't have the students. Large public's will likely chug along for a while in the south. Remember when Gordon Gee wanted to cancel foreign languages at wvu in 2023?
