What's the impact of the "on-ramp" program that further defers payments (via non-enforcement) through Sept 2024?

With all of these good paying jobs POTATUS admin created, and the record low UE POTATUS admin created, paying these loans back should be totes easy, right libs?

I'm looking forward to the usual sock trolls to respond ignore this thread.

I still think there will be an "emergency stay" on this. I have faith in the Democrats to pull an end around here and protect the deadbeats.

Hell, with Bidenomics creating this awesome economy the loans shouldn't be a burden at all. Accelerate and call due in-full all loans since all are doing so well.

You are probably right. There may well be another emergency stay.

The trigger for that will be people trying to early cash out IRA / 401k money.

As soon as we see an uptick in that they will be forced to act.

Would not at all be surprised to see further restrictions on early withdrawal for retirement accounts in the next 2-years.

This is the Liberal mindset

"How dare you force me to be responsible and honor the legal contract I willingly signed! How dare you not just screw over the taxpayers to save me from the consequences of my own actions!"

That is only for "the little people."

Too Big to Fail

PPP

Strung up their dictator, lost thousands of lives, they gave the oil contracts to China and....
U.S. forgives $4.1 billion in Iraq debt

Overcharge taxpayers, declare bankruptcy and make taxpayers take the haircut.
Scooter Store settles dispute

All this pearl clutching and Biden's failed plan will be like Obama's smoke and mirror plan where only 2% of those who applied actually got cash.

Interest is already accruing on these loans so it's up to the borrower to pay regardless. Shutdown won't affect bills or payments.

It does affect people applied for deferral, payment plans etc, which is a big enough number to make an "emergency" and probably postpone the whole thing again

Nah, Mohela completely botched the restart to payments. Everyone was put on admin forbearance and DOE told all services to not charge payers for their F up .

I never received a single notice of a payment due, and the calculation was completely off when I logged in. Now my restart is listed as 12/29/23, and I have no expectation it will actually restart correctly then.

Can you define this for me? I thought the connotation of that term was that it was against someone's will?

This discussion is worthless without knowing her OF user name so we can all come... to our own conclusions.

Meanwhile my mom calls if FansOnly and thinks its a gambling site. I corrected her and told her FansOnly is porn for dyslexic people.

If they pay their debts than by definition they aren't deadbeats.

Pocahontas concerned over the resumption of student loan repayments. Yeah, yeah, CNN. I know.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/04/politics/student-loan-payment-elizabeth-warren/index.html

Quote:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren and three other liberal senators are raising concerns about how the Department of Education and federal student loan servicers are handling the return of student loan payments after a three-plus year, pandemic-related pause.

Federal student loan payments resumed in October, but the 12-month on-ramp period provided by the Department of Education for struggling borrowers could experience implementation errors and potentially cause "unanticipated consequences" to borrowers' credit scores through next September, the senators warn in a letter sent to the Department of Education on Friday and first shared with CNN.

"The chaotic resumption of federal student loan payments has raised questions about the extent of errors and the measures being taken by the Department to address these concerns and provide assistance to affected borrowers," said the letter, which was signed by Warren of Massachusetts, fellow Democratic Sens. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
Unanticipated consequences? Consequences of repaying a loan they willingly took out? The term "loan" ought to imply repayment without explanation. They were gifted three years of no payments.

Heard today that 33% of student loan accounts were delinquent since the restart on Oct 1st.

The way it sounded theres not a restart at all.

Person that was being interviewed said there would be no enforcement for 24 months.

So if you know somebody in real trouble they might look into this.

Sounded like people are able to push this back another 24 months if they need it.

Thats what it sounded like from the person being interviewed earlier today. Not saying this is a fact.
