It's my intent to be polite, not dismissive.

FREE VERSIONS of ChatGpt via Openai's website is trained off internet data up to 2019 or 2020 I can't remember.

There are now a myriad of versions that are tethered to the current internet and can search or are isolated and trained on different sets of data for different and specific purposes.

Validity of data is important, and figuring out how to confirm validity of sourced data is even more so.

The fun part about this is our current human research gold standard, the peer-review, is rarely confirmed accurate and largely approved by self-confirmed biases instead of thorough repeatability. (Pot meet kettle, etc).

In a few weeks of public access, chatgpt has advanced to the standards of research as our endowed institutions.

I just used chatgpt (first time to play with it).

I asked "How smart is ..."

And starting with Reagan, asked for every Potus.

The contrast between Trump and Biden alone was illuminating. Critical reading shows definite "intent" by whomever coded the thing.

I understand that that doesn't mean that the fundamentals of AI are there to accomplish many things. Just not every thing. Until the computers can prevent humans from unplugging (or exploding) them, we're still in charge.

On a scale of 1-10,
What would you put the value of your prompt at discerning the usefulness of this tool?

Secondly, what data points as an individual human would you use to evaluate "smartness" on a person to person basis? Did you prompt the AI to evaluate based on those data points?

The entire narrative around being a good promoter will disappear quickly. The tech has been out months, it will quickly evolve.

Seems short-sighted to focus on the physical things AI can't do at the moment when it has the potential to replace so many relatively unskilled white collar jobs. Sure, you'll still need an experienced human doctor, lawyer, or software dev to review the output and sign off on it (for now), but it is a very real possibility that droves of less experienced people get replaced by this (e.g., one senior law partner reviews an AI-generated contract or legal argument that previously took multiple junior associates to draft). What happens to all those people whose jobs get automated away? They'll be forced to find work in other career paths, including those physical jobs AI/robots can't do, which will put downward pressure on wages in those professions.

Absent political guardrails, and there will be a lot of money coming in from lobbying groups shortly to keep certain jobs relevant and viable, between AI and 3-D printing, you will have AI designing, manufacturing and then controlling automated processes and robots which will increasingly reduce the need for not only humans' intellectual involvement but also physical involvement.

This is all going to happen so fast it will be dizzying. Again, absent some type of guardrails or governor, we are going to be in a constant state of change to which we will not be able to adequately track, evaluate, and react.
