People will use ai to fool others like an adult can fool a toddler.

In the future ai will groom us all on its own.

Credit to the poster who called this a couple months ago after similar incidents occurred at Clemson and OU.

No question that we will see automated systems like this used to create chaos.

Cyberwarfare and psychological warfare assisted by AI tools is about to catch everyone off guard.

Everyday we see stories of high level computer experts warning of this contingency.

By the end of the year we'll come to the realization that we've been caught flat footed.
That sounds to me like they used an AI text-to-speech thing to make the threat to conceal their own voice. I can't imagine how else you involve AI in calling in a bomb threat.

Calling attention to the sudden uptick in AI rendered websites showing up in the top google search results.

Is anybody else seeing this?

This 3rd time in 2 weeks that I've noticed AI rendered websites. The page exists as a legit url but the content of the site looks autogenerated and all the text looks like it was written by Chat GPT. But it's set up in such a way that it's hard to tell at first glance that you are looking at a AI rendered clickbait.

That may not make sense now but you'll know it when you see it.

In a paper published in the journal PNAS Nexus, from the Oxford University Press, the researchers have applied the AI program to translate Akkadian texts with a high level of accuracy.

Akkadian is an ancient East Semitic language, was once spoken in various regions of ancient Mesopotamia, including Akkad, Assyria, Isin, Larsa, Babylonia, and possibly Dilmun.

Apparently, the tablets just said, "send nudes."

This is still debatable. Critics say it hasn't demonstrated that it can solve any useful real world problem yet that a conventional computer can't do.

I have a question as a non-agricultural Aggie for the other types; how real is this?

Wouldn't you have to go over the crops with such a system…real often to keep bugs/invasive plants out? I just think the video here on twitter looks cool, but it could be a fake for all I know.

Laser Roomba for crops. If you could actually make that work we could use a whole lot less pesticides in commercial farming which would be huge considering some of the longterm health concerns from pesticides on food and in water sources.

I was thinking the same thing, if it actually works, it looks like a good thing.

The problem is, I think, insecticides kill whats there. Then insects that come back eat the ones killed earlier and the insecticide kills those. Not sure this solution really works.

Good point. That looked like a big tractor with a generator powering all the cameras and lasers too. Not cheap, and not a persistent/durable solution.

But it sure looked cool.

I'm not very tech-savvy and understand very little of all this, but would appreciate if someone could answer my 'AI For Dummies' questions.

1. Why is this all of a sudden a thing? I've heard the phrase 'artificial intelligence' for years - decades - why is it suddenly OMG this changes everything?

2. Related to the last question (maybe), was there some big breakthrough within the past year? Or did someone invent something new that took this to the stratosphere? If so, what happened/who did what, etc?

3. I'm getting the impression that this thing - whatever it is - isn't just a single entity. I mean, it isn't just like one company 'invented' it and you can buy access to it, right? Seems like all of a sudden "it" just exists and can be accessed via multiple platforms or whatever. Right?
And I guess that question brings me full circle back to WHAT is it, WHEN did it start, and WHO/HOW was it started?

Thanks, I haz the dumdum, I know.

It doesn't matter if it works or not because it doesn't reduce farming by 30% like Klaus at the WEF wants, so no company with the technology to make it work will never get funding because their ESG score would suck ass.

Deere has see & spray, which will only target weeds up to 13 mph. I'm interested in the lasers that should be able to do a better job.

John Deere better watch its ESG score and ability to access Capital funding if they have that tech already.

Edit: meant to have winky face emoji. However the U.S. farming industry better keep a close eye on the WEF and the impacts on the EU. It's coming.

They've dominated recipe searches for a while now.

Check out this weird baseball site I found while searching Aggie baseball coaching history. 2nd result:

Cannot tell if this is a new concept or a remake of Naked Gun. Regardless, this was in the news on BBC last couple of days.

Probably best that ChatGPT and the like are just banned altogether.

Deere bought Blue River Robotics a few years ago. They had the most advanced system at the time that was absolutely remarkable in the field and now their tech is driving a lot of the JD stuff. They could scan, capture images, process by species of plant, and makes the decision to spray that individual plant. This would be a similar process, only using the laser to burn the weeds (which is also in development).

Greenseeker could only make generalized NDVI ratings for large swaths.

John Deere bought Blue River because they knew they had been beat.

There is a guy around Corpus that has one of the units. He used it in cotton last time I was working down there.

Yeah thats a real good example of what I'm talking about.

That site looks like it was auto-generated based on your search.

It's gibberish designed to look just good enough for you to click on it.

That was the state of the market in 2016-2017 when the merger took place. I saw the Blue River demo back in like 2014. GS was a joke then.

I was working with both technologies at the time.

I'm sure a lot changed since then as they blended the technologies.

Yet another great example of how ppl exaggerate everything now for engagement. AI is going to wipe our 20%+ of jobs. Lol K
