It's hilarious skinny2k1 thinks he can tell when an AI is serving him or not at his bank.

Let's just rename the Turing test to the Skinny2k1 test

Can AI unload a mix of 2x4s, 2x6's etc to frame a house? All in the area of a job site to ensure that it won't be in the way or that it's staged for once dirt work is done?

Can AI run the performance program on rental equipment like pumps or compressors for oil and energy , mining projects and know what equipment that maybe is on rent now or is about to come off rent that a new customer might would use?

This would probably be trivial for it to do.

Quote:

Can AI determine when a child is having problems at home at school and might need some follow up with their parents?

Probably, this is basic statistical analysis. Plug in enough data from relevant kids and it will probably see the performance slip faster than any human ever could.

Quote:

Can AI anticipate the need for a diner that might want to try a new dish? Or anticipate their drink need?

This is statistical analysis. All it would need is data from restaurants. If you don't think a corporate like Landry's is looking at this then you're delusional.

Quote:

Can AI deliver a baby?

Can AI butcher a hog and make great pastrami?

Can AI take the trash from the street to the landfill?

Can AI change the shocks on a front wheel drive late model sedan?

Quote:

Can AI make innovations for a landscaper when their customer is asking for some creativity and fill gaps that the landscape architect won't do and if they would, the cost wouldn't fit into the customer's budget?

Yes, there is no reason to think it couldn't do this.

Quote:

If AI replaces customer service at JP Morgan Chase. Fine I'll switch to a diff bank.

You'll never know the difference.

Quote:

If AI replaces the already non existent cashiers at Home Depot or wal mart - fine I'll shop at the local mom and pop hardware. Store.

This is fine but AI will allow you to just walk out without checking out and will charge you automatically.

Quote:

AI will never replace our lives. The internet is basically a 3d phone book with on demand banking and porn.

If you live your life in the internet then you live a sad life indeed. Professionally and personally.

Unplug and get outside. Hug your wife and kids and call your mom.

Jeez. Don't let this crap influence your thoughts so much. It's a fad.

Or

buy guns gold and Tampax. If you think you need it then wait and see.

If the work can be done with a computer, AI will be better than humans within 10-15 years max. Anything requiring physical skills with hands will take longer. Otherwise, you will never be able to compete.

1. The Simpsons already did this - see episode when Homer gets the robo-dialer

2. Old Army Ags will always be able to decipher interactions with AI. We spent decades listening to Dave South's calls of Football, Baseball, and Basketball games and our brains could decipher the actual outcomes on the field with background crowd noise and Dave Elmendorf's corrected color commentary sandwiched between info about player's hometowns/weights and Normangee's latest tractor offerings.

Fear not good Ags!

So I asked ChatGPT to give me a synopsis on a research question that doesn't have a definitive answer, "what percentage of patients reject treatment for periodontitis". Not only did it give a synopsis on why this occurs (accurate) it gave a percentage range - 5-50% (unknown as not quantified). To which I asked if it had references for that data. It provided the following references:

The rub is these references don't exist. The authors and journal references are genuine but don't correspond with the article title and have nothing or little to do with the question I asked or data I proposed.

This occurred one day prior to the article about Johnathan Turley being falsely accused by an AI including fake articles to back up the accusation of sexual assault.

https://decrypt.co/125712/chatgpt-wrongly-accuses-law-professor-sexual-assault

Scary stuff

1. Describe which version used, free? Connected to internet?
2. Copy/paste the prompt used.
3. None of this is new information especially if using the free version.
4. Try gpt4 or one of the internet connected versions. There's even one that does specifically search research papers and cite appropriately.

If chatgpt is relying on the internet for its information couldn't someone task chatgpt with flooding the internet with fake data/information on various topics to confuse chatgpt?

It's my intent to be polite, not dismissive.

FREE VERSIONS of ChatGpt via Openai's website is trained off internet data up to 2019 or 2020 I can't remember.

There are now a myriad of versions that are tethered to the current internet and can search or are isolated and trained on different sets of data for different and specific purposes.

Validity of data is important, and figuring out how to confirm validity of sourced data is even more so.

The fun part about this is our current human research gold standard, the peer-review, is rarely confirmed accurate and largely approved by self-confirmed biases instead of thorough repeatability. (Pot meet kettle, etc).

In a few weeks of public access, chatgpt has advanced to the standards of research as our endowed institutions.

"If it can be done with a computer". The majority of the tasks he listed may be able to be aided by a computer, but can't be done by a computer. Most of his tasks would take robots to turn the dirt, load the lumber, etc.

Will such robots be available someday. Probably. But we're a long way off. Few (if any) physical tasks can be completely "done" with a computer. That was the point of his post.

Also the hand waving "it's just statistical analysis" assumes that apt and accurate statistics are available, otherwise it's just GIGO.

Are humans better at discerning garbage input, like global warming, than AI?

I just used chatgpt (first time to play with it).

I asked "How smart is ..."

And starting with Reagan, asked for every Potus.

The contrast between Trump and Biden alone was illuminating. Critical reading shows definite "intent" by whomever coded the thing.

I understand that that doesn't mean that the fundamentals of AI are there to accomplish many things. Just not every thing. Until the computers can prevent humans from unplugging (or exploding) them, we're still in charge.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
On a scale of 1-10,
What would you put the value of your prompt at discerning the usefulness of this tool?

Secondly, what data points as an individual human would you use to evaluate "smartness" on a person to person basis? Did you prompt the AI to evaluate based on those data points?

No, just "how smart is" and let it go. Also, Einstein, Franklin and a few others.

Trump, GWB, and Reagan (if I'm remembering) all included "controversial". It returned nothing about Reagan and intelligence.

Biden the word "controversial" doesn't appear, but the word "intelligent" does.

Here's a prompt that might actually result in useful information:
Quote:

I know a lot about [topic you know well]. Teach me the fundamentals of [new topic], using terminology and concepts from the previous topic I know a lot about.

Also, what did you think about your first prompt? Scale of 1-10 on validation of ChatGPT's usefulness?

Seems short-sighted to focus on the physical things AI can't do at the moment when it has the potential to replace so many relatively unskilled white collar jobs. Sure, you'll still need an experienced human doctor, lawyer, or software dev to review the output and sign off on it (for now), but it is a very real possibility that droves of less experienced people get replaced by this (e.g., one senior law partner reviews an AI-generated contract or legal argument that previously took multiple junior associates to draft). What happens to all those people whose jobs get automated away? They'll be forced to find work in other career paths, including those physical jobs AI/robots can't do, which will put downward pressure on wages in those professions.

You're missing the point.

I know JP Morgan is probably using some sort of bot and will more often. That's why I use a local bank.

And the answer is no they can't do these tasks and won't fully replace the people who do because these being just vivid examples people won't patronize businesses that delve off into this. Human beings have instincts where they can tell. That's what makes us human.

If you want to dive into this silly artificial world then go for it.

I won't.

I mean, I'm not even certain how long banks will actually exist due to CBDCs and Bitcoin, let alone the relevance of a 100% human interaction from a customer service perspective.

Long term, I can't imagine that your perspective will hold water, short term possibly.

If your local bank isn't already tinkering with AI use-cases it would be surprising, honestly.

Just to be clear, your belief is that your local bank will employ zero AI assistance in their customer service?

Define "a long way off." Absent political guardrails, and there will be a lot of money coming in from lobbying groups shortly to keep certain jobs relevant and viable, between AI and 3-D printing, you will have AI designing, manufacturing and then controlling automated processes and robots which will increasingly reduce the need for not only humans' intellectual involvement but also physical involvement.

This is all going to happen so fast it will be dizzying. Again, absent some type of guardrails or governor, we are going to be in a constant state of change to which we will not be able to adequately track, evaluate, and react.
