A little earlier than expected, but all of the Biden voting CM's on this board will make the same pivot over the next 18 months. They are really "lifelong conservatives" that wanted to vote for Desantis (if he's the nominee), but the media will instruct them on why he is "too extreme", and so they'll have no choice but to vote for open borders, crime waves, inflation, disastrous foreign policy, and the targeting of conservatives by our government.

Its like posting opinions on movies you havent seen.

Or posting about public schools vs private when you don't have any kids. You need to have some relevant skin in the game for your post to carry any weight in opinion

I know most in here will disagree, but I don't think this is a good look for him. This is bully behavior for a company having opinion. Win or lose, the battle was over, and now he's making it a war.

The Reedy Creek action could be written off as, "Oh they're just leveling the playing field, taking away benefits." But new taxes and toll roads would be pure punishment.

There's a line between aggressive and too aggressive, and I think any new action will cross that line. I don't see this going over well with independents and centrists. It's just going to make him look like a bully. This is precisely the sort of thing that would keep me from voting for him.

Disney was already making war on families via corruption and brainwashing of their children, thereby making war on America overall. I support whatever it takes to drive them into the ground or the far away dark corners of the world, or Europe.

So if people see someone being harmed they should just record everything on their phone & do nothing lol...how about no.

But to say the Dems do this is a twist on the truth. They attack political rivals but they don't attack private companies. They may voice opinions, but I haven't seen them leveling policy against targeted private companies to score political points in a culture war.
This reeks of a statement that's designed to troll and exhaust. It's willful ignorance intended to get people to spin their wheels and expend time and energy trying to convince you in good faith when it's unlikely there's a mutual good faith discussion happening. Putting it simply, there's no way you could have existed in a conservative sphere, especially in the modern internet age, and not seen a plethora of examples of the Democrats targeting private companies and individuals. They have outright harassed a baker for years. They have weaponized government agencies to harass non-profits. They have had intelligence agencies directly reach out to social media platforms to manipulate the information space. They have attacked firearms companies and fossil fuel companies. These are just a few examples, and you would know them well if you were actually anywhere close to being right of center. The algorithms on numerous websites and services would not allow you not to know.

Disney is not some innocent, helpless company, either. They've invested quite a lot of money on leftist social messaging and political causes, and they have openly opposed the GOP. They inserted themselves into politics, and they don't get to cry when they don't only reap rewards.

You've likely ruled out desantis.

You must also rule out whatever democrat is the nominee. Since Biden took over, the doj has targeted conservatives or even those who simply disagree with school boards. The dems use the federal bureaucracy as a sledge hammer against their opponents.

So, who do vote for?
I likely don't vote, but it's mostly moot because I live in Texas so our electoral votes are already settled.

So much this. When you choose to engage politically as a company, then be prepared for the consequences. Sometimes you get what you want and sometimes you don't. But to cry "unfair" when you don't is incredibly childish.

As WaffleDynamics said above. Disney inserted themselves in the political realm.

I remember when no normal company(non activist) would engage in political speech. No trans speech, no feminist speech, no gay speech. NONE.

But now you have every company making political statements left and right.

I don't want HerSHEys making political statements. I want them making delicious chocolate. I don't care if they privately donate to rights groups. But I don't want it pushed into my face through advertisements, etc. Just make chocolate and let me live MY life as I see fit.

Not everything has to be political. In fact, most everything should NOT be political.

Stop pushing everything to be political. And we would be a happier country because of it.

Disney is openly FOR LGBTQ2XCP3+Z-1,000KPK% people being able to talk to 1st and 2nd graders behind parents backs about gender and sexuality. It's hardly just a petty "dissenting opinion". Children are off limits...I know that really irks a lot of you leftists. You guys are increasingly obsessed with having access to other peoples' children and certain states are starting to fight back and say "hell no".

I would honestly have a hard time not caving someone's face in, male or female, if I found out they were talking to my 7-8 yr old about sexuality and gender bullsh** behind my back. Desantis's actions are pretty tame in my book, but a step in the right direction.

If taking action against people or companies who advocate for teachers being able to talk to 7 yr olds about sexuality and gender theory behind parents backs is the straw that breaks the camel's back for you, then you have major issues, no offense. Sorry you don't think we are in a culture war but maybe you should listen to our President saying that there should be no limits on the age for "gender affirming care" and taking the side of the shooter and folks who are storming state capitols instead of the people actually getting shot and harassed like Riley Gaines did last night.

We are in a war whether you like it or not, the only question is if you want to surrender. DeSantis' position is simply trying to get Disney to stay in their lane and get out of politics. They have a lot of room to do as they wish. He hit them and he did it the right way using the Legislature and on measures that were popular in Florida. They now have tried to subvert that law and likely broke the law in doing so and he is going to hit them again to make sure they understand they need to stay in their lane.

If you don't think stuff like ESG and companies getting active in pushing politics, especially social justice, on people is a problem you really need to open your eyes. They started the war and we have to fight back now or else we will lose everything. These folks don't want to let you be able to live as you want, they won't stop until you submit to their Woke culture. How are you going to feel when your 10 year old Grandchild decides to cut their privates off because they saw a show on Disney saying it was wonderful and the laws have been set so that if you oppose them doing so YOU lose custody or get thrown in jail? That's where this is headed and there are already signs of it in places like California and Washington, it's basically policy in Canada.

I'm not sure why this whole thing is so hard to comprehend.

1. Disney had a special deal. The only company in the state to have such an arrangement.
2. All was fine until Disney waded into a state wide policy issue (law) that had nothing to do with them.
3. The Republicans (including DeSantis) took their special deal away.
4. When Disney decided to try and outsmart the State, the State decided to play hardball.

A worse look for the State of Florida (IMHO) would be to allow Disney to get away with it.

I live in WPB in the winter months.
