Good morning.

The empire strikes back:
Quote:

On Wednesday Ukraine launched six US-donated ATACMS and four UK-made Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles, provided to Ukraine by London, at the Kamensky chemical plant in Rostov Region in southern Russia, the ministry said.
In retaliation, the Russian military has struck a Ukrainian command center and targeted installations of US-supplied Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, Moscow claimed on Friday.
"In response to the actions of the Kiev regime, supported by its Western curators, this morning a combined strike with long-range precision weapons was launched," a Defense Ministry statement read.
It targeted the Luch design bureau in the Ukrainian capital, which produces Neptun and Olkha missile systems, the ministry said.
"The goals of the strike were achieved. All targets were hit," the statement added.
No more neptunes I guess, as that's the 'design bureau' that made them?

Good sitrep overnight, for folks opposed to the war. A more complete treatment of Putin's end of year summary/remarks.
I was told Korean weapons/munitions are a sign of desperation.

More neighbors are done with Kiev.

Makes sense.

What is wrong with Poland though?

When was that appropriated? Does Biden just have a foreign slush fund? I ask because of the thread I started on the Impoundment Control Act.

From your link:

Quote:

The Biden administration will announce in the coming days its final Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative package, using up the remaining funds set aside to buy new weapons for Ukraine, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
So we are back to the ICA question. Should those appropriations be a ceiling or a floor?

They are worried they won't be able to exhaust the full amount of the presidential drawdown authority of around $5.6 billion to be given to Ukraine before Trump is sworn in. From the April boondogle legislation.

This will continue until Trump's hand is on the Bible being sworn in.

The true winners of the Ukraine war are Russia, China, and Iran who will make off with hundreds of billions worth of strategic Ukrainian mineral reserves (lithium, titanium, and uranium) which will fuel their military technology for decades.

Congress doesn't want the power of the purse strings. It's too much for them. They only want to name post offices and tweet.

Fico Accuses Zelensky of Offering Bribes in exchange for supporting Ukraine's accession to NATO.

'I will not quote them but Zelenskyy made me certain proposals behind closed doors. And I want to say that Slovakia is not in a state of war. Neither with the Russian Federation, nor with Ukraine. We are very sorry about what is happening in Ukraine now. And we are not going to give them weapons, we know that the Ukrainians are losing this war completely. Ladies and gentlemen, I must say that President Zelensky categorically rejects any ceasefire. Any truce. He still has some idea that first, perhaps, he should get everything in the world, and only then will he talk about some kind of truce.

And when I asked him about the transit of gas through Ukraine, Zelensky ruled out any idea of it. He made proposals that seem absurd to me. For example, that he would agree to it only if we did not pay Russia until the end of the war. What fool would give us free gas? As we were coming to the end, the president returned to the topic of gas and asked me whether I would vote for NATO membership if he gave me 500 million euros from Russian assets. Of course, I immediately answered that I would never. You just know my opinion about Ukraine's membership in NATO. And it is strange that he asked me such a question, because he knows perfectly well that inviting Ukraine to NATO is completely unrealistic."
Just fan freakin' tastic.

It's believable, though. The 'seized Russian assets/revenues' are a real narcotic to the grifters/war profiteers. They feel morally righteous disbursing them around.

I'm not really sure this is even accurate, but it could be as well. Ukraine/Pentagon/CIA/Biden(*) etc. goals in this end stage are all about the headlines, none of the underlying truths or certainly impacts on Russian billionaires etc.

Article states Trump will continue military support after the current war is over, to stop future aggressions.

Russia's goal was the eastern riches of Ukraine which they have taken.

But, one thing is clear: there can be little debate that, among other things, the President's pressure exerted on Vice President Pence to violate his oath, and the false hope it sent to emotionally charged supporters, was wrong, troubling, and impeachable.

'Incoming POTUS' aides try to calm down jittery Euro's' might be a more apt headline. Nothingburger. He can't commit to any specific changes about post-war funding/equipment budgets until…we are in a post-war phase.

I'm also fairly skeptical his team is really/fully aware of how terrible the actual condition of the UFA is. They have to be locked up when training abroad so they don't escape:

Ukrainians flew a couple terror drones into a couple high rise residential buildings in Kazan, Russia (weird target as I think it's east of Moscow quite a ways). Disappointing, of course, though not tactically/strategically significant.

Excellent response to some lines that sound quite familiar here:

Well at least we are starting to admit what this is all about. It's about oil, gas and rare minerals. But, it's been sold to us as a fight for democracy and the "sovereign" "nation" of Ukraine. I've read my history, Ukraine has never been democratic or any nation of people. It's always been a region of different groups.

Interestingly, Kharkiv publishing house Folio published his diaries something like 5 years ago (they are banned in Russia).
Quote:

According to the news resource, the book will include the musings of the propaganda minister from approximately the last year of his life, between 1944 and 1945. Goebbels and his wife committed suicide on May 1, 1945 after murdering their six young children. He dictated the last entry in his diary a few weeks beforehand.

The book's back cover, images of which have appeared on the internet, notes that Goebbels wrote about 15,000 pages-worth of material in his diaries. Suggesting that the writing from 1944-1945 was "the most valuable part" of his diaries, the book's description explains that without "knowledge or understanding" of these materials it is impossible "to get a more or less complete understanding of German National Socialism."
The defenses of Nazi's/Hitler propaganda are rooted in Ukraine:
Quote:

The academic added that in recent years, the Nazi propaganda minister's diaries have become a kind of textbook for anti-Russian propagandists. "These diaries contain many interesting facts, of course, but Goebbels shapes them in his own way. The line 'Why did Hitler attack the Soviet Union? Because the Soviet Union had attacked Hitler' effectively comes from [these diaries]. Generally, when one reads them, one is struck by the 'storehouse of information' that they provide for contemporary anti-Russian propaganda."

"Factually, all of the slander that we have heard about the Great Patriotic War over the last two years has come out of these diaries," Zeleski emphasized.
Among other units, the 14th Waffen SS division of the SS is often honored/seen in Ukraine still through to today, as a cherished cultural memory, even with a memorial to it at the Ukrainian catholic cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.

Personally, I find such 'culture' disgusting. It's difficult to extinguish terrible old ideas/hatred though.

So there's no evidence of the "Ukraines locked in Czech military camps" besides a random screenshot from a pro Russia troll with no link? Thanks for confirming. Just a slight amount of examination of the constant stream of tweets you post might save you from a few of them that are obviously bs.

Again, I am happy to help, I just don't submit to your/others requirements as to sources as it's usually misquoted. These things are not hard to find, whether you accept them as valid or not. I recommend DDG for starters.

There's plenty of silliness on either side, I try to curate for what is real.

The 'Russian disinformation' industry is really having a rough weekend, imho.

The Guardian report has already been denied, though. That would really be desperation.

You'll forgive me if I prefer another source for the story besides Pravda.

https://edmo.eu/publications/russian-disinformation-network-pravda-tries-a-new-route-to-influence-eu-public-opinions-few-days-ahead-of-the-vote/

Quote:

A new wave of Pravda websites covering EU languages, that use a slightly different URL than before, was registered in Russia at the end of May. Instead of the previous URL pravda-xx.com, now the websites have as URL xx.news-pravda.com (where "xx" are the two-letter country codes).

All the various versions of this URL are pertinent to a single domain that was registered in Russia (Moscow) on May 23, 2024 and that is set to expire on May 23 of the next year.

Certainly disinformation on both sides but Russia is particularly good at it.

I just don't think that is true. The side that is really good at censorship/propaganda (a la goebbels but a 21st century flavor per above) is the one that gets elections/leaders cancelled because 'TikTok' videos etc. Or martial law. Or the whole narrative about 'freedom and democracy' in Ukraine, and censorship in Europe. It's a parallel to the whole pulling for al qaeda in Syria because 'well Assad was bad.'

But that's all why I won't look for a 'CNN' article to support the claim nor disregard it, because it's entirely plausible. They don't know, and wouldn't report on it unless they could disprove it to support the green goblin regime.

Trump pushes Nato for 5%. LOL, there's an opening offer.
Quote:

Quote:

Donald Trump wants NATO countries to increase their defense spending to more than double the current target, the Financial Times and the Telegraphreported.
According to the reports, Trump's team has told European officials that the U.S. president-elect expected NATO allies to increase their defense spending to 5 percent of national gross domestic product after his Jan. 20 inauguration more than double the alliance's current 2 percent target.
Trump's team also reportedly said that the incoming U.S. administration would continue supporting Ukraine. Trump's election had led to concern in Europe about the future of the U.S.'s support to Kyiv after Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance criticized the Biden administration for spending billions on military aid to Kyiv during the presidential campaign.
It's not clear what the Trump team means by pledging to continue supporting Ukraine, although President-elect Trump has talked in the past about trying to reach some kind of a deal.
Back to NATO: While Trump's call for increased spending probably won't result in much movement from NATO, at least one member, Germany, is already having some issues; their Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, is calling for more spending on Germany's defense.
Spoiler alert: he's gonna pull a ton of resources out of Europe. If they go to 5 they can defend whatever is left of 'Ukraine' without us. Were nato intelligence/targeting centers struck yesterday?
