This is all happening pretty much exactly how common sense would have predicted.

Common sense predicted Russia would spend 5 months trying to take one small town?

Really?

Remember, those same Russian accounts said it would fall any day back in October. And one resident poster said all of Ukraine would fall in "weeks" several weeks ago.

Common sense says Ukraine can't win a long war. Every extra day it lasts, the board tilts further to advantage Russia. Thats what is happening now. I haven't seen any female conscripts on the front line for Russia. Have you?

What about US aid? You have an update or still waiting for the "right time"?

Except that Russia has no ability to mount an offensive.

So the time still isn't right?

That, and to be honest I've never understood the "but Ukraine is losing ground slowly" defense.

It't not really important to the next generation how long it took to change hands.

It's been 5 months and Russia still hasn't taken a tiny town. That's their only success in nearly 18 months. At this rate it won't be the next generation. It will take about 500 years.

No one said this. But we all know how this ends. Defense industry always gets its way.

Russian propagandists have begun lying about Ukraine's purported mass conscription of women, Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation reported on Dec. 18.
According to the Center, these false claims suggest that Ukraine is about to launch a wide-ranging conscription campaign targeting female citizens.
However, Ukrainian conscription policy on women specifically states that only female citizens with a medical education are subject to mandatory military registration, the Center explained, noting that registration does not equate to a mandatory call to service. Women's military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains voluntary.

This is yet another repetition of your genre regarding a non sequitur which you latch onto as though it has meaning to others (sometimes perceived as snark).

Ukraine is losing many hundreds if not a thousand troops a day. They have thrown their best trained/equipped units to defend the 'abandoned' Avdiivka and are now in the midst of a wholesale leadership change due to the failure to stop Russia from continuing to degrade their forces in attritional combat.

The date as such does I guess matter but not as much as their own parliament being even still wholly unwilling to endorse the next round of Zelensky-demanded conscription/mobilization.

Restating a mythology/lie that you have built in your head that I stated conclusively that Avdiivka "will" certainly fall in weeks in mid/early December doesn't change the significance of the losses, or battle itself. Frankly, I think Zaluzhny was probably right vs. Zelensky that it wasn't worth the subsequent losses to UFA that have been caused there. Those being; huge amounts of materiel and more importantly manpower they can not replace, and the concurrent attritional impact of coalition confidence they can even sustain the war this year absent US aid and some influx of weapons/money/manpower/leadership that is not apparent.

The EU package of 50 billion euro's over 4 years doesn't…really matter to sustaining Kiev as they lose major supply lines, leadership, and are starved of forces/manpower no matter how much you simply scorn/hate/mock the Russians.

Yeah harping on and on about early 2022 is like being stuck on how great the M1 Garand was vs. anything the Japanese produced in the 40's as a service rifle. Everyone knows. But it's about tap dancing around a stale point thinking/feeling…something, or a certain kind of fishing.

Especially when harping on what happened almost 2 full years ago ignores the losses incurred since. But since losses are a state secret in their "democracy" its understandable how someone could forget about them.

I am not proRussia or proPutin but how with this knowledge can you be in favor of continuously cutting checks and support continuing a war with a nuclear power when this war is being fought because 1) dirty American politicans want another ****hole to launder money through 2) we helped instigate this war 3) negotiations would end it quickly and help Ukraine citizens who want to join Russia do that. 4) knowing the events that set off this whole thing were directly orchestrated by George soros.
I haven't heard anyone supporting giving unlimited, unchecked money to the ukrainians.
I haven't heard anyone supporting biden escalating this by the dumbs**t way he's handling this.

This isn't an either/or choice, there are other options or combinations thereof.

I support giving very limited money. (also sending IRS agents over there to conduct audits there, instead of on Americans).

I support givng all the munitions ukrain can expend on killing russians, hopefully over the next ten years or until putin is offed or russia goes bankrupt again.

I also support biden + family being investigated and jailed.

The only good communists are dead communists. And a crippled russia allows us to concentrate on defeating (or at least countering) china.

Honest question, have you followed anything on what Russia has been up to over the past 18 months? They no longer are using a large "private military company" for much of the work, or anywhere near as many 'prisoner conscript' units/troops.

They've massively expanded industrial military output including everything from drones, armor, logistics materiel, and nearly doubled I think the uniformed active folks in theater. And changed leadership almost entirely at a tactical/theater level. They've also tremendously improved ISR capabilities both with space based assets and otherwise, while improving on largely antiquated field artillery/mortar systems.

But otherwise, sure, it's basically the same folks/strategy/tactics as February 2022.

Were they doing this back then??:

I'm not sure if you see "the last guy was a weakling" as a "good answer," I sure don't. But that seems to be the consensus.

In my opinion, these answers actually highlights the point you're making. "we must defend democracy" and "we're weakening Russia!"

They say this is true now, but no one can clearly articulate why it wasn't true then or what changed, and its certainly a question worth asking.
