Sweet Baby Jesus, 8 pound bundle of joy and greatness, PLEASE give Griner 9 and a half years in a Russian jail!
Can't stand her...but even I don't want that. I want her sentence to be only as long as it takes her to feel stupid for kneeling for the national anthem.
Nine and a half years does seem excessive. I don't think that's warranted. But again, not our country. Can't help but thinking that Russia is trying to push a point here too.
I was in Russia for about 2 1/2 weeks in 2012 and never once felt threatened or anything was crazy. But I also didn't break their laws.
The Russian people were very interesting. A very huge contrast between older and younger, those that had lived through communism and after the fall of the wall.
Not as friendly in general, very skeptical of people especially Americans. Not very "smiley" in general. Didn't really nod at you or greet you with a smile even when you were buying something. It wasn't like they were mean they just were very stoic.
One of our guides there was telling us about some things and mentioned he had gone to United States one time and literally cried when he walked into a grocery store to see how much abundance there was. The main thing he noticed was the different brands of the same thing. More than one milk, more than one butter, meats eggs etc. He said he couldn't believe anything like that existed. He said they had one choice for everything if they even got it.
Now with all that's going on over there who knows.
