Who was playing whom? That's my question. But now, I think Putin was the one got played.

OTOH, if China really wants Taiwan, getting the US to send assets to Ukraine and deplete our capability, maybe not. In one fell swoop, they could conceivably remove Russia and the US as military powers? IDK.

Oh, I know it's not a panacea for Russia's issues and that it does nothing to guarantee for them. It does, however, introduce additional uncertainties and concerns along with the great likelihood of additional destruction and death. Even if it does nothing to bring about Russian victory, expansion of the war is not a good thing.

Plus there are a lot of things that require smart people that have nothing to do with national security. Put them to work in one of those fields until you're absolutely certain.

This is a real concern. Russia cannot be allowed to encircle Ukrainian troops. If they cut them off and bleed/starve them to death, it's going to get very ugly. My hope is that Ukraine continues to pull their cede-and-counter strategy and never get encircled.
