The GIAT Caesar is a serious gun. It has a shoot & scoot capability that is faster than any towed howitzer AND it has a 52 caliber length tube. That long tube gives it potentially 40km range with the right propellants. The M777 is a 39 caliber length tube which has considerably shorter range. The Caesar also carries a decent load of ammo.Rossticus said:

The 12x CAESAR howitzers France sent to Ukraine, aren't from French Army stocks.
These are brand new systems built for #Morocco, which accepted a French request to send them to Ukraine instead. France will later backfill Morocco's order. pic.twitter.com/SxCJc9JNm5
I feel like this is an extremely poor decision by the Russian army unless they’re trying to go for some big propaganda victory. Militarily-speaking they don’t have to clear it and shouldn’t even try. Just starve them out. Again strange decision-making. https://t.co/wFl42TYrlT

Quote:
The weapon had a reputation for great solidity and reliability. Ian V. Hogg, in Weapons & War Machines, describes an action that took place in August 1916, during which the British 100th Company of the Machine Gun Corps fired their ten Vickers guns to deliver sustained fire for twelve hours.
Using 100 barrels, they fired a million rounds without breakdowns. "It was this absolute foolproof reliability which endeared the Vickers to every British soldier who ever fired one. It never broke down; it just kept on firing and came back for more."
For years the Kremlin encouraged Russians to drop out of the political scene, to focus on work and family and not get too interested in what the government is doing. That time is over, you must now be an active supporter of the war or risk becoming the regime's victim.
