I think that depends on where you want to hit the bridge. I said taking out that bridge was a legitimate target several hundred pages ago. But not sure which munitions and how much would be required to effectively close the bridge down for a long period of time.

That central span is the weakest part. It has to have the arch to support its length so boats can pass underneath. The rest of the bridge is simple concrete pylons with concrete laid sections. Those are pretty robust and pretty easy to do an emergency repair. Hitting the longest span would not only be harder to rebuild, limit the weight that could cross with an emergency repair. It would also block a shipping lane.

Just find a cargo ship carrying highly flammable fuel/oil and explode it underneath to melt the stays between the deck and the arch. It would have to be pretty hot on the RR bridge as it uses W Flanges and tubes for the struts but the road bridge is cables, which is more typical.

A saboteur, would have likely have to sever 12 connection points of the struts (between deck and arches) which look to be about 30' above the track. Since the russians built it maybe only half that. The road bridge would be much easier able to access the cables at deck height and a few turns of det chord & a 1-2LB TNT on each cable cutting at least 2 adjacent cables on each side of the road bridge. Would not have to be in unison as the asymmetrical torsion loads created might help with the demo.

Below is failure in which one or more tendons failed. This is a single arch versus double but same concept and requiring the least amount of explosives.

Before I saw all your replies,I was going to say the same thing. Side effects of Parkinsons meds - the increased movements and tremors. Gets worse over time. Eventually one can get Parkinsons dementia. Gripping the table to suppress demonstration of hand tremors. But you can see his head move. He can't put his head in a brace.

With both USAF and the manufacturer being so closed mouth about PG's capabilities, I'd imagine it is something highly tailored for a specific target set.

It's brand new and if it is successful in its combat debut, we'll undoubtedly order far more than 121.

One of the primary meds used for Parkinson's is Levadopa. Chronic use (or overuse) of Levadopa has been linked with potential for delusions, hallucinations, and other psychoses such as paranoid schizophrenia. My mom had vascular parkinsons, and when they put her on too much levadopa initially, she became absolutely nuts and was coming up with all kinds of bizarre stories she was convinced were real. If Putin is taking dopamine and listening to the delusions of his military leaders while he is off his rocker, no wonder people are saying there is no reasoning with him.

Hallucinations are a huge issue with Parkinson dementia. My neighbor has it and I'm uneasy knowing Putin is going through the same thing (his delusions of a broader war).
