The cynic in me says that Zelensky is happy to let Azov get annihilated in Mariupol. They tie up troops, he gets a humanitarian disaster to sell to the West for more weapons, and his ugly little Nazi optics problem gets taken care of.
And as to the claims of indiscriminate shelling of civilian areas- fortified urban areas are a, if not the, key component of the Ukrainian defense strategy. What does everyone think is going to happen when apartment buildings and whatnot are used to fire on advancing troops?

Another senior Russian officer has been killed in Ukraine. Colonel Vyacheslav Savinov was deputy chief of staff of the Russian Missile Troops and Artillery. Russia's catatrophic losses in Ukraine now reportedly include 32 colonels and 7 generals pic.twitter.com/bT7w9bRRnl

This process was documented by @EliotHiggins and others in the #OSINT community. First came non-standard munitions. Then the use of them for a chemical platform. In later stages Assad/Putin sought to feather the red line with things like chlorine attacks. https://t.co/ZNh96C7tgl

That was followed by a more complicated set up that appears to have fallen out of favour rather quickly, probably when they realised it was much easier just to drop the gas cylinder out a helicopter with some minor modifications. pic.twitter.com/9GxsgEp3tL

It's not the capability comparison (weapon vs. surveillance) but rather that 10 years after the Predator was fielded that the Orlan was fielded as a RF "program of record" surveillance drone using technology that could be purchased from a hobby shop.BQ_90 said:That's not really a good comparison to the Predator drone at all. Here we see the Orlan Drone, built 15 years after the Predator, and featuring state of the art optics (a velcro secured off-the-shelf Canon digital camera with the slider glued to "On") and a soldered on plastic bottle top. https://t.co/Q56IZMRQVA
This is an excellent read and is very much what a good number of posters here have predicted as well.74OA said:

What do we know? According to the US briefing today about 40 out of 130 BTGs have been so thoroughly wrecked that they are not functional and have been withdrawn entirely. This loss rate of approx 30% seems to be mirrored in overall Russian casualties (maybe an underestimate)

We are preparing for a massive Russian offensive push. Thanks to all your help I feel far more comfortable with our weaponry and vehicles. I am very concerned about ammunition shortage. I cannot believe the world at large is just not raining ammo for us.
— James Vasquez (@jmvasquez1974) April 11, 2022
I have a gas mask but no one else does. I really don’t know what more Russians can possibly do before Ukraine gets provided what they need to win. This is bananas.
— James Vasquez (@jmvasquez1974) April 11, 2022
Honestly on the small scale we need ammo, frag grenades, concussion grenades, light machine guns, claymore mines, some MA-2 .50 cals. We need some 4 wheel ATV’s or side by side UTV’s
— James Vasquez (@jmvasquez1974) April 11, 2022
Unfortunately not. I actually bought the last 2 boxes of 7.62 rounds from a hunting store yesterday. We have ammo but one major battle will seriously deplete us. I’m hoping there is a large shipment I’m unaware of

Don't know if it is still active but Uke government set up a website with the identification papers of dead Russian soldiers that Russians can access to look for their loved ones. It also included those taken as POWs.GAC06 said:
I wonder how many Russian families are finding out that way instead of from the Russian military.

The Poles say a sudden arrival of large numbers of T-72s to the Donbas operated by the Ukrainian Army can’t be linked to the disappearance of the Polish 100 tanks from in Lublin.

Zelensky has not confirmed the Azov Battalion's chemical weapons accusations in Mariupol and is still treating a Russian chemical attack as a hypothetical

We still have not seen any Evidence or Confirmation of a Chemical Attack on the Besieged Coastal City of Mariupol, it is currently 1am there so it possibly may be too dark to get pictures and assess the Situation but by morning we should have a better picture of if it did happen.
