Saw that same clip yesterday. It's not new.

It's probably been posted before but the tweet says Kherson yesterday. I edited my post because I misread the tweet originally.

There were videos of them flying around on the first day. Don't know if they were actual videos from Ukraine or copy paste from other conflicts, but they were definitely been reported as being in the air space.

Russia's lack of air ability may be the biggest surprise coming out of this.
Was just talking with The Hubs about the lack of Russian drone video. Have you seen or read anything about Russian drone operations?

How much weight can we really give all these various reports of Russian equipment losses? I'm having a hard time believing the credibility of all these reports. As much as I want them to be true. Guess it's just the dilemma of social media.

A pretty fair amount given they're mostly photo based, unless they're moving the same burned out convoy to different locations.

Russian video has been hard to come by. Most of their supporters on Twitter are just posting written updates not accompanied with video/images.

That's foraging and armies have done it since the dawn of warfare.

So you're saying they need to do this because, for some unspecified reason, they don't have enough food? Might that unspecified reason be the Russian army's inability to provide the materials required to sustain war fighting operations?

I will point out that foraging is likely to provide better cuisine than military rations even if they do have them.

I saw a picture of a supposed Russian drone in the back of a pick up but I don't know their drones well enough to know if it was or not. I also don't know what their drone capabilities are.

But if drones are in use and dropping some munitions, wouldn't the Ukes be talking about them?

Russian military has been very quiet about their operations. They told their own people it was a limited military operation to free the breakaway regions from Ukrainian oppression. They can't go out publicly and say what is going on. So really, unless it comes from outside sources there's no way to know.

There was a good analysis written on the state of the Russian Air Force, and why so few seem to be in the area, I can't remember whether it was on this thread or the other one.

One of the things they pointed out is that Russian troops may not be able to distinguish their planes from Ukrainian planes. It's possible they've already shot some of their own planes down. Remember, these were the idiots that accidentally shot down a civilian airliner in 2014.

They also may not want to be showing off some of their capabilities because they know the west is getting so much in terms of signals intelligence right now.

Shouldn't likely be possible? I understand rations suck, but then you would have to slow down your units to actually cook afaik. It's also happened in varying size elements based on videos. From two man buddy teams to squad sizes elements based on what I've seen.

If it was the red one i remember seeing, i thought the claim was it was a Russian target training drone or something, and they suspected it was in country to try to draw out Ukrainian Anti-Air positions.

In 2019, Russia unveiled their killer drones that are supposed to take out other drones. Link

The Ukes using the Turkish drones with some success I might add, would seem to call for the use of those Russian drones in response.

Entirely possible they are out of rations, but not necessarily indicative. They may have been occupying the area for a while so decided to go on a snack run. Grunts will usually jump at the chance for normal food in lieu of MREs. Ask me how I know haha

It takes some time to build and scramble Swedish fighter jets. They have to grab a few boxes from a warehouse, and assemble the pieces together with the small included allen wrench.
But they are packed perfectly in a 28" x 60" x 4" box

Praying that they'll effectively block themselves from encircling Kyiv with all that heavy gear out of gas, along with a Javelin strike or two. If that means supplies and reinforcements can keep streaming into Kyiv and taking the city becomes near futile, I see a possible ceasefire being negotiated.

I don't think Putin would carpet bomb Kyiv, the ancient capital of Rus. I desperately hope I'm right.
somehow Sherman could march 130 miles with no supplies

but the Russians can't fuel their vehicles on a major highway 70 miles from the border?

sounds like a target rich environment for those incoming Javelins. time for the Ukes to do as much damage to the convoy north of Kyiv

then withdraw as much as they can to east of the Dnieper and blow all the bridges and sink all the boats

From above on page

Quote:

one of the OSINT types "Oryx" is keeping a running list of photo verified equipment loses here:
www.oryxspioenkop.com/2022/02/attack-on-europe-documenting-equipment.html

Russian forces are up to 467 as of the last update (190 destroyed, 8 damaged, 121 abandoned, 149 captured)

the OSINT guys all seem to highly trust this guy's estimates. on the documented losses list you can even click on each vehicle in the list and see the pictures used to verify its loss.

You're absolutely correct. Maybe Ivan was hankering for some of babushka's borscht and decided to whip some up in an ammo can.

But even your standard gas station snack aisle fare is usually preferable to whatever horrors await in a Russian MRE
