Whoa! Mind blown!

Since all the Russian financial assets are frozen how will they ever get the s*** load of dimes they're gonna need?

Looks like Ukrainians have arrived to the same concluded we did: target the supply lines/fuel trucks. Dig around settlements? Guess the old ways are the best ways sometimes.

OSINT Live Feed reporting on ground sources identified 3 columns of tanks moving toward Kyiv; estimated 500 tanks in total.

That's a lot of armor to keep fueled.

It's bold strategy Cotton, let's see how it works out for him.

Zero infantry support. They're going to get lit up by Uke mobile anti-armor.
Unless there's mech infantry mixed within the columns.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case. A mixture of tank, BMP/BTR, and some variant of artillery is what I was thinking. Straight armor seems like an exercise in futility.
tanks go boom boom

If Ukraine has well placed tank killers just waiting to ambush then this would be ugly if Russia just tries to roll on into town. I hope they are well positioned to do that.

They had a plan. It was just a rigid plan they've refused to deviate from that was predicated on poor intel, unrealistic assumptions, and insufficient logistical support. That could be argued to be worse than no plan.

Do we just donate the Javelin missiles or do we have special advisors on the ground to assist the UA with training and use? I wonder if we have special forces on the ground in Ukraine.

Macron talking nukes with Belarus.

Quote:

In a phone conversation Saturday, Macron denounced "the gravity of a decision that would authorize Russia to deploy nuclear arms on Belarus soil," a statement by the presidential palace said.

Macron told Alexander Lukashenko that fraternity between the people of Belarus and Ukraine should lead Belarus to "refuse to be a vassal and an accomplice to Russia in the war against Ukraine," the statement said.

He's essentially asking Lukashenko to cut off his lifeline and hang himself. But it would royally piss off Putin, so there's that.

Help me out, what's this actually mean?
It means for those that have a signal from those terminals will not need wired internet to remain connected. Basically the Russians will not be able to cut of their communications by cutting lines. This assumes they will have the terminals setup.
Starlink must have a base station within view to downlink the data back to the internet. Best I can tell after a short review is that the nearest ground station is in Wola Krobowska, Poland. I'm not sure how much of Ukraine can be covered with that ground station.

Here is a picture of the Polish ground station:

Here is on in Turkey for comparison:

The starlink satellites have laser data links between each other in space. It's not about the satellite having a direct line of access to the ground station, but a (daisy chain) connection to the sats in near it that…then do.
Only the v2 satellites have the laser link and they may or may not be operational yet.

When all this is over and the inventory of stores are taken, Ukraine will need to replace a lot of equipment. It will be interesting to see what they choose.

Would be foolish to think that someone US, Poland, or Canada doesn't have a SOF group on the ground. Probably CIA SAD and or CIA contractors.

I think you are right, on the V2. We had a better map that showed some interlinks live, but I forget where it was on the spacex thread. Here is one. I find it unlikely they can't provide full coverage at least thru Kiev.

***Bold statement warning***

Russia has lost this war…

Even if they take Kyiv, they've still lost…

They've shown they are a weak adversary (at least in terms of conventional warfare)…

They've alienated themselves from just about every country on the planet…

They are going to suffer massive financial hardships…

They've lost relatively substantial numbers of troops and equipment…

They've been stonewalled and embarrassed by a seemingly inferior force, and all of the world got to see it first hand…

Putin has been made a fool of by a dude who used to be a comedic TV actor…

Putin's own people are disgusted and willing to risk arrest (or worse) letting him know they ain't happy with him…

This was a monumental Charlie Foxtrot which will have lasting repercussions for years to come, leaving Russia essentially marginalized…

Time for some updated maps since I came across them. Ukrainians continue to hold up Russians at city centers. Donbas region is still at the same lines it was pre-invasion (this has to really piss of Putin). Mariupol is looking like it will likely be facing fighting from the east and west soon.

Everything you said is true….but the game isn't over yet. Ultimately this will also be judged by how it ends, and Putin is nothing if not determined and prideful.

You're right. From the way things keep unfolding its obvious Putin's macho bravado isn't that much of a threat if a country like Ukraine can be this difficult. The stink of this is going to last for years after he's gone.

Per the AP and Macron, Minsk has green lit Moscow to station Nukes in Belarus.

Probably not a big tactical update as Russian nukes could strike all of Ukraine from Russia. But definitely a huge escalation in terms of saber rattling.
