That's a lot of armor to keep fueled.
It's bold strategy Cotton, let's see how it works out for him.

The starlink satellites have laser data links between each other in space. It's not about the satellite having a direct line of access to the ground station, but a (daisy chain) connection to the sats in near it that…then do.lb3 said:Starlink must have a base station within view to downlink the data back to the internet. Zero infantry support. They're going to get lit up by Uke mobile anti-armor.
The first batch of satellites with laser links only launched this last September. It'll be awhile before the majority of the constellation has the capability.nortex97 said:The starlink satellites have laser data links between each other in space. If musk is sending starlink receivers there I'm willing to bet it will work or else that's a pointless thing to do. Any bandwidth will be better than no bandwidth especially as we've seen propaganda and information flow has been key to the Ukraine

What's a realistic range that a tank can travel on paved roads before it's out of fuel?
Germany has just announced the provision of anti-tank grenade launchers and stinger missiles to Ukraine. Keep it up, Chancellor @OlafScholz! Anti-war coalition in action!

OSINT folks said 72's were mostly in the columns. Wiki said their range is approx 300mi (double it with external tanks). Our typical resupply pushed fuel twice a day to armored units. I can't imagine them being able to run more than 12-24 if constantly running.jabberwalkie09 said:BTHOtrolls said:jabberwalkie09 said:GarryowenAg said:

I don't know off the top of my head but it depends on the tank and if it has the external tanks. Wikipedia should have some info. It's going to be different without knowing what type of tanks these are reported to be. Iirc every tank that was in Belgorod and moved to Kharkiv had external tanks fitted, so I would assume these units will be no different. I think what we have seen has been T-72's and T-80's. I haven't seen reports, pictures, or videos of T-90's anywhere.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case. A mixture of tank, BMP/BTR, and some variant of artillery is what I was thinking. Straight armor seems like an exercise in futility.

🔻 Kharkiv: the attacks repelled, the city is under Ukraine's control. Many Russian vehicles were destroyed: tanks, armored vehicles, etc. Houses damaged in the city, there are injured
