This is perhaps the strangest of them: the story of how a Russian riot police convoy went to conquer Kyiv on its own. pic.twitter.com/mWYWjIKkwj

Jumping back a few pages, this sounds like a platoon sized insertion and they were probably planning on linking up with other platoons landed nearby.Eliminatus said:Dude, I have no idea. Credit due to the Ukes for fighting and disrupting the Russians at every turn, but this whole damn invasion just seems like such a half-assed, disjointed mess. The tactical level stuff everyone is fighting hard of course and giving their all, but the overall strategy of this entire war is impossible for me to figure out. Not the goals per se, but the method Russia is going about trying to achieve them.jabberwalkie09 said:Russian airdrop attempted at Brody, Lviv oblast, 3 helicopters dropped 45 Russians, who are currently fleeing from Ukrainian response teams into nearby forests.#RussiaInvadedUkraine https://t.co/OXbKFprChN

And an insertion all the way over in the western most portion of the country? Why?
The only thing I can think of to explain any of this, is just overwhelming arrogance leading to mistakes that are mounting together. It truly is possible I guess that Putin thought the Ukes would just cave immediately?
Anyone have intel on follow on forces? Second wave trickling in? Did Belarus ever finally get into this? Chechans? (**** those guys in particular for personal reasons.)

Mounting evidence of Russia employing banned cluster munitions.

No worries. Fog of war. Good point. It also seems that the Russians didn't learn from the Wehrmacht's experience after 1942. Blitzkrieg tactics stopped working when resupply failed and air superiority was absent, and German generals got overconfident after early successes in 1939-41.htxag09 said:

Seems the US isn't the only country who's people have gotten weaker the last 50 years. Those soldiers made it through entire winters. These Russians aren't lasting 3 days.

Ukrainians are claiming that they have destroyed a Rosguard unit. Rosguard is the Russian National Guard - they are a sort of internal security service and should not be taking part in an invasion. They may have been sent in to secure seized areas.
