Lavrov: Russia will not agree to a ceasefire along the current front line as a condition for starting negotiations.

"We're ready for negotiations. But we won't let anyone trick us anymore. Although, sometimes we can be naive, and our simple-mindedness can be used to deceive us yet again. But we're on high alert right now," he added.

Translation - Russia is the victim. Same story ad nausem e.g. Minsk agreement, Anchorage summit, Black Sea grain deal, blah, blah, blah. Clown world because Ukraine now has momentum and Russia doesn't. Repeating their 2022's maximillian demands make no sense.

That is going to become a disaster. No food or water. No way to rest. Cars running out of fuel. People will just start walking across the bridge and leave their cars on the bridge.

Stick a fork in it, because Crimea is done.

Nice work, Ukraine.

Now finish the rest.

The cluelessness of mainland Russians who flocked to Crimean vacations this spring is astonishing, as is the arrogance of their disappointment that the country they have brutalized for over four years would dare to disrupt their fun.

Putin really has done an excellent job of insulating big-city ethnic Russians from the realities of his war. Till now. Now they're starting to wake up as Ukraine brings the war to Moscow, St Petersburg and the stolen beaches of Crimea.

Screw them....

The last time when the Soviets were humiliated by Afghans on horseback armed with American sourced weapons (Charlie Wilson's War) the Soviet Union failed.

So what happens if Ukraine ends up routing the Russians out of their country?

Either putin drowns in his bathtub or the russians rely on their nuclear weps. If putin can't find another way, he doesn't see anything to lose.

Putin has set up things such that there is no planned successor. The entire system is based around him. So there is great instability and uncertainty related to the immediate future when he is "retired" or dies. One presumes a new strong man will emerge with support of the oligarchs, military, and intelligence service.

I don't think we'll see a major rout. The mobilization efforts this fall will shore up their lines. Crimea will likely be without power and basically deserted by civilians come winter.

Will depend. If the logistics to support the fresh meat continues to be degraded then I doubt that they'll be shoring up anything for long. Pretty sure that's why Putin is pushing for another northern incursion from the Belarus direction. He needs to do something to take the pressure off or he'll be looking at serious risk of a deterioration along the existing front this fall/winter despite added manpower.

We are fast approaching the time that Ukraine will have a drone ready for every Russian soldier.

I am not sure the mobilization of fresh troops will really make much difference if they don't have the equipment or fuel to get them to the front intact and provisioned. The Ukrainian attacks on manufacturing are really starting to bite in ways that will have lasting effects on Russian production capabilities.
