See the 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 09, 08, 07, 06….. seasons for the same "things feel different" mindset.
It's good that you're excited about the season, but there is not a different air about this year.

Honestly I don't get it. Most experts and he'll likely most of us non experts expect us to take a step backwards this year with a likely 8-9 win season which would not suck given our schedule but it would be a step backwards all the same.
The 2013 FSU vibes was my favorite. Bought that one hard.
I wouldn't call it a step back. We aren't UGA, tOSU, or Oregon…yet. The first two reload and essentially recession proof. We're working on getting there and going to cycle back up and hopefully maintain.
If it isn't a step UP…then…

Year three of the Elko era, and we're already in the "cycle back up" stage? Bodes well.
IMO, if we're good on the lines, we can hang with anyone. The talent is there to make a run. In today's game, the teams that can get out of their own way and stay healthy are contenders. Most SEC teams are talented across the board. The talent difference between us, sip, Bama, UGA, UT, LSU, OU, and Ole Miss is negligible. Throw in Auburn and Florida and any of those 10 teams can make a run.
I have guarded optimism about the season. Just like last year, I'm saying 4-8. That way, I can't bltch about 8-4. It's how I now counter my BAS.

OP, I've felt the same way nearly every august for about 50 years now.
Only exceptions are those years when you know the coach is pretty much cooked. You've seen the failure on the field from previous years and know that nothing will change, and you're just waiting for the ax to fall. Not the case this year (although we do have quite a strong history of premature contract extension signings, followed by very bad on-field performances.). t

After developing a thorough case of BAS, I'm trying to learn to just enjoy the environment and traditions. If we win, great!

With a good run over the next few seasons, A&M could pass LSU for 12th on the all time wins list. Elko needs to win 13 more games than LSU to make that happen.

I remember being so depressed after that game. And yet we went on to have a great season.
That's the only time I've been to New York. I missed the exit to the Meadowlands.

Excited for the season but pretty pessimistic about the CBP this year. Sankey's idiotic 9 game league schedule coupled with the committee's adamant belief that all conferences are created equal is gonna lead to the SEC getting only 2-3 bids rather than the approximately 5 that it'll probably deserve, and there's a good chance we're one of those teams who gets snubbed for a 11-1 Big 12 team who played one ranked opponent all season.
NGL, more excited for my kids in fall sports and fishing.

I gave up my season tickets, stopped paying for premium, and have so much more free time when I can just watch the game on tv and then turn it off whenever I'm done with it.
They've ruined college football.

The SC game is afternoon, not night.
I don't really get excited for college football anymore since it's all just hired guns playing for money, who happen to be wearing various college logos. But I still generally enjoy watching it more than other sports, so I'm glad it's approaching. I don't think we're going to have a great year though.

I couldn't be more excited because it's a venture into the new 9 SEC game slate and we now have both the 25 and 26 classes on campus and participating. Those are Elko's first 2 full cycles and I think there's a lot of talented youth there that we will get to see throughout this season, which will only make the anticipation and expectations rise for the future.
Yeah you can't tell me players haven't gotten paid all along in some capacity. I guess some people like to believe that everyone is on a level playing field.
