Pretty impressive strike, but fsb shouldn't have 100 personnel at one location but then again.

Thanks to just this one operation, Russian losses amount to around a hundred occupiers killed and wounded. Russians must feel that they must bring this war of theirs to an end. Ukraine's medium- and long-range sanctions will keep working.

having made their most significant gains on the battlefield since Ukraine's incursion into Kursk Oblast in August 2024.

Ukrainian counterattacks recaptured much of Kupyansk starting in November 2025, liberated over 400 square kilometers in southern Ukraine in winter and spring 2026, and most recently liberated several settlements in western Zaporizhia Oblast since late April 2026.

Ukrainian counterattacks in southern Ukraine have created cascading operational and strategic effects against Russia's ongoing Spring-Summer 2026 offensive against the Fortress Belt, which has forced Russia to choose between defending against Ukrainian counterattacks or allocating manpower and resources to priority sectors.

Ukraine's intensified mid-range strike campaign against Russian logistics, military equipment, and manpower since early 2026 has also degraded Russian forces' ability to conduct offensive operations across the theater and has likely supported recent Ukrainian advances.

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi stated on May 15 in an exclusive interview with Ukrainian defense outlet Militarnyi that precise Ukrainian strikes, the destruction of Russian reserves, and constant pressure on Russian assault units have allowed Ukrainian forces to increasingly seize the tactical initiative and force Russian forces to react to a Ukrainian-defined operational tempo. Syrskyi did not provide absolute figures but noted that the number of Ukrainian offensive actions exceeded those of Russian forces as of May 14, which may indicate Ukraine contesting the initiative at the tactical level and engaging in more active counterattacks.

Those look to be pretty significant sized warheads for flying 180-200KM deep. One appears to explode prior to target from flying debris and secondaries. Definitely lost some munitions stored there.

Amazing that you can go on google and get a street view of the complex and a view from the beach. From the street view there are several satellite dishes and what appears to be a 3 mast antenna array on NW corner..

Putin again resorting to veiled nuclear threats and alluding to a supposed stance that anything which prevents them from doing what they please is a sovereign threat to their security and the "global balance of power". ~So you'd better let them do whatever they want or they may just nuke you~ ** Cue senseless hysterical screeching.

Will be interesting to see how practical this turns out to be.

Ukraine is now launching drones from balloons. More innovation.

"Ukrainian operators claim the tactic could extend the Hornet's range from approximately 150 km to around 300 km by combining the aerostat's range, altitude energy, and preserved battery charge."

AEROSTAT

Seems like an innovative way to go after ADA assets as well. Balloons randomly fly all over, orc ADA locks on to balloon and launches, Drone on balloon detects launch, drops from balloon and locks onto the launcher.

I wonder if that Behemoth drone was used on the FSB complex in Crimea.

The videos from Ukraine, Syria, Gaza, ISIS controlled Iraq, etc showing completely destroyed cities are awe-inspiring in a way that's difficult to articulate. Hundreds of thousands of people used to live in these cities and today it's mostly critters and a few holdouts.

First-person report from Kiev.

"In the beginning of this war, the world watched the front lines: battles, territory, maps. But Russia understood something. It does not have to win on the battlefield if it can break people at home. So, it shifted. It began striking power stations, water systems and heating infrastructure, in winter, in cities full of civilians. Women and children are killed in their apartments at night. Not by accident. On purpose."

Are any wagner units still there? I know most of them got shipped off as the Afrika Korps, but I would think that there would be a few to stay around and train Belarusian SOF.

My actual no joke response initally was "Good". End the farce. The sum total of Trump's involvement in this could only be labeled as detrimental, IMHO. On the other hand, just reinforces the playbook against us. Don't give in, just say no. Russia won that round handily. So that sucks.

I do wonder if it was an official policy change here or something we just let lapse on it's own. And what the trickle down effect will be, if any. The HAWK purchase mentioned is good but do wonder if we will keep up that program, even if we still manage to hem and haw every step of the way with it. Though Ukraine's growth of their own internal weapons programs is nothing short of inspiring when viewed against what they have been facing all along. Have seen it mentioned elsewhere that they are going hard working on their own SAM capability which would be incredible and be another marking point in this war to date.

Quote:

With more and more drone strikes reaching the key Rostov-Crimea highway, Ukraine redefines the depth of the "kill zone".

The first echelon extends to approximately 20 km (this is the case on both sides of the front). It primarily consists of FPV drone strikes, which generally operate at a depth of 5 to 15 km, although some drones with wings fly further. This is the basic kill zone; anything that moves is quickly targeted, movement is severely restricted, and losses are high.

The second echelon is very recent, extending to 50 km or more, with enhanced conventional FPV strikes, notably via Starlink or sometimes with added wings, increasing their range. This is particularly the case around Donetsk. In this instance, the targets are logistics, deployment points, and key roads leading to the front. Losses are also significant, especially in terms of vehicles, which are often unarmored.

The third echelon is twofold: on the one hand, there are tactical strikes against high-value targets carried out primarily by FP-2 drones (rear bases, training centers, ammunition depots, repair facilities, air defenses, radar installations, etc.), and now also by roving munitions that fly over key routes and target Russian logistics, particularly military equipment and fuel trucks.

The fourth echelon extends even further, towards Crimea and Russia. This echelon mainly involves the FP-1 drone, but also frequently the FP-2 and other long-range drones. Targets include the foundations of the Russian economy (refineries, ports, industries), the Russian army in Crimea, fuel depots, and command centers.

An additional echelon is made possible by the launch of conventional FPV drones from the decks of naval drones (USVs) and sometimes aerial drones, enabling FPV strikes far from the front lines.

My map with a basic understanding of the different echelons
