"A growing number of experienced officers and field commanders are reportedly leaving military service, citing Commander-in-Chief Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi's harsh command style, excessive micromanagement, and what many describe as the growing authoritarianism of the military leadership.

One of the latest high-profile resignations came from Dmytro Kashchenko Hero of Ukraine, former commander of the 58th Motorized Brigade, and former deputy commander of the 20th Army Corps who recently submitted his dismissal from the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Military command structures are supposed to be authoritarian, no?

Depends on how you mean that. NCOs have authority under their conditions.

So what are you speaking to, specifically? Our military?

Here's more details on Ukraine's latest domestically designed and produced weapon.

The wider implications of its use are interesting in that to achieve anything resembling its max glide range, the bomb has to be released at relatively high speed and altitude, probably at or above ~10,000 feet.

Not long ago that would have been a suicide mission as the launching aircraft would have been detected and targeted by Russia's S-400 SAM system long before the fighter reached its release point.

As with the increasing number of deep penetration raids by Ukraine's much longer-ranged systems, this is another data point indicating that Russia's IADS has been meaningfully degraded.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

"A single remote-controlled Ukrainian ground combat vehicle defended a "key intersection under constant adversary attack" for 45 days last summer, according to a 3rd Army Corps spokesperson who called it "Ukraine's first fully robotic defensive operation of a position." It likely won't be the last."

The current situation in Kostyantynivka continues to deteriorate:

Ukrainian forces are still holding their positions in the south of the town and in Ivanopillya. At the same time, Russian forces are keeping up pressure on the flanks and sometimes manage to make deep penetrations with isolated infiltrations.

Last week, Russian forces raised flags in Illinivka, but the area is still being shelled and attacked by drones, which shows it is still contested. Russian troops have also been seen for the first time in the northwest part of Kostyantynivka. The map has been updated, but the situation is still complicated because there is no clear front line.

On the eastern flank of the town, Russians continue to be spotted regularly in the Hora District in Kostyantynivka, which is under heavy shelling from both sides. Meanwhile, a Russian presence was detected for the first time in Molocharka, confirming further attempts by Russia to bypass Kostyantynivka. Notably, Russian sources provide conflicting accounts of the origin of this infiltration. Did it come from the south (via Novodymitrivka) or the north (via Virolybuivka and Stinky)?
Here, too, we have updated the contested area.

Another Ukrainian drone crashes inside Estonia.

"Speculation and some tacit official acknowledgment have surfaced that Russia may be using electronic warfare measures to redirect long-range strike drones from Ukraine meant for Russian targets towards the NATO countries at the eastern end of the Baltic Sea. "Russia continues to redirect Ukrainian drones into the Baltics with the use of its electronic warfare," the Ukrainian MFA said. "And Moscow does this on purpose, together with intensified propaganda."

As a wise Ukrainian once said: "We're lucky they're so ****ing stupid".

It truly is a wonder. We have our own black spots in history with this of course. "McNamara's Morons" being the case in point and every military unit has it's combat rocks. We even had a saying. If you aren't going to be smart, you sure as **** are going to be strong. Yet, Russia's widespread usage of troops who can only be described as mentally deficient and even clinically mentally ******ed is so vast that it has to be an indictment of the society itself at this point. We joke and lament about the state of our public education here but damn, what we have seen from Russia's best in the last few years would normally be pitiful and even alarming to see. If it was anyone but a literal mob of savages that is. Well, most of them tbf.

I wonder how many skeletons are just laying around these hotly contested areas that are just too hazardous to enter to retrieve bodies?

Thousands and thousands based on the number of dead Russians that haven't been returned.

Coincidentally, I'm watching a Warfronts video right now that estimates as many as 350,000 dead (excluding wounded) on the Russian side since they invaded.

It honestly is really good and made a few waves when it first dropped. Kudos to the videographer who made it. Even is she ostensibly is on Russias side. I would love to see something like this but from today's perspective. That Russian military depicted here, bleak as it was, is dead and gone. Something even more base and ugly has taken its place since and just from telegram shorts is somehow far more dysfunctional and degenerate.

The degradation of Russia's fighting forces in Ukraine as both a uniformed military and a human organization is always a point of fascination to me. It's like a real life Lord of the Flies unfolding in front of our eyes.

It's kinda wild to think that this is likely their high point in the war, and it was something they accomplished by throwing human meat waves into prepared defenses and then blasting the rest to bedrock with artillery. Not exactly inspired warfare. Not to mention it took an organization not even tangibly under direct Russian MOD control to do it. (At the time)

This is Russia's glorious battle of the war and the Russian Armed Forces proper took a backseat to the mercenaries who did the hardest fighting in it. The same org they literally murdered the head of later and disbanded. It's like a bad war novel if we didn't know better.

Problems around Borova

Recently, Russia's Ministry of Defense announced the complete liberation of Borova, and footage appeared showing advances into the village. However, the reality turned out to be far less positive.

In late April, Russian forces conducted successful attacks and gained a foothold in the built-up area. By early May the situation was relatively favorable, but the enemy then disrupted Russian logistics and restored control over the village.

After the attacks, footage was published that allegedly confirmed the capture of Borova. In reality, most of the video was filmed 25 kilometers away in Kolomyichikha, which has long been under stable Russian control.

This is not the first such case. Previously, footage from Novaya Tavolzhanka was used to claim control over Kupiansk.

While the Guards "West" units have real successes around Kupiansk and are strengthening the pincers around Lyman, such misleading information only harms the overall picture.

Pretty impressive strike, but fsb shouldn't have 100 personnel at one location but then again.

US officials rave about Ukraine's comprehensive cutting-edge C3 system.

"Ukraine's Delta common operating system, their modular open system architecture command and control system, is absolutely incredible," Driscoll testified.

"It fully integrates every single drone, every sensor and every shooting platform into just one single network. Ours does not."

"Delta is one of the best systems because, from the beginning, it was made for this drone war, integrated with EW systems, detectors, artillery, everything," Myronenko told Military Times."
