Russia averaged 2,000 losses a day during November. Staggering and yet the Putin meat grinder keeps on grinding somehow. I mean it has to be like throwing bunnies into a wolf pen at this point.

Keep grinding the meat. There are only so many.

Apparently there's still plenty to keep sending in waves.

His labor market was shot before the war started, which was part of the point of the invasion...besides chasing nazis of course. It was made worse by the number of people fleeing conscription. But it is going to be far worse by the time it is over.

Russia's meat grinder continues to grind. Putin is desperate to control as much of Ukraine as he can before any negotiations.

"Britain's defence ministry says that in November Russia suffered 45,680 casualties, more than during any month since its full-scale invasion in February 2022. According to the latest UK Defence Intelligence estimate, Russia lost a daily average of 1,523 men, killed and wounded. On 28 November, it says, Russia lost more than 2,000 men in a single day, the first time this has happened."

Yeah but some random polish politician who hasn't been in office in forever told RT that everything going to Ukraine was being laundered...

We already know the Russian military has failed abysmally BUT a significant amount of valuable Ukrainian land has been gained since the start of the war.

If the US allows Russia to take their gains and freeze current lines, then Russia can simply regroup, harden defenses, harvest their newly acquired resources, rebuild their economy (because undoubtedly, a Trump brokered peace deal will lift economic sanctions) and prepare for a new offensive in several years when political conditions are ripe (Russians will continue to unleash misinformation campaigns in the United States over the next several years to soften any opposition to future Russian aggression).

The author is right about aid coming too late. However, late aid was most certainly the fault of the US House of Representatives.

Thought this was super interesting. Wondering if this event is another "first" in the long history of warfare. Of manned forces actually actively fighting against unmanned vehicles. Of nimble drones acting and maneuvering against humans who are doing the same against them. I know there have been prototype gun bots that may have seen limited action already but I don't if it approaches the level of this type of sophistication. Even the Sea Baby's attack against the Black Sea fleet earlier feels different. More like a static defense almost.

Just seems like another threshold has been crossed to me somehow. A small and maybe irrelevant one in the grand scheme of this conflict but still.

Anyways, wild video here.

It would get real interesting if they could figure out a way to have Stingers on those drones. I think the shoot down rate would go up dramatically.

Cost would quintuple (more?) the cost of those USV.

Yeah, but could also make them much, much more effective. Think of having different flavors of them acting in concert. Give one or two an air defense capability, another one or two high caliber guns, and then have them protect a few suicide drones and/or rocket launcher drones. There's probably room for some kind of EW package, too. Russia would likely have to move to guided standoff weapons to avoid aircraft and small boat losses, making it much harder and more expensive to stop attacks.

Taking it to its logical conclusion, the sea is about to become a whole lot more dangerous. Small autonomous semi-subs with a small battery of short range surface to air missiles or surface to surface missiles.

The Ukrainians have already tried putting unguided MLRS rockets on their USV's, but imagine putting a couple of GMLRS rounds on one. Just getting a few near a protected naval base could deliver serious blows to ships and infrastructure and would exponentially expand the area that would need to be patrolled and protected.

I would not be so certain that Trump will ease sanctions on Russia!

you are also not even mentioning that a cease fire deal allows UKRAINE to improve it's defenses, integrate a modern NATO Air Force and Air Defense system, rebuild it's country, have more manpower for their army come online.

Round Three does not automatically benefit only the Russians!

They really need to stabilize their gun mounts. There is nearly zero chance of hitting anything in the air from the back of a moving jet ski. Add in the network lag and the odds become zero.

Remote systems like these will all need automated target tracking to succeed.

Anduril is the SpaceX of the US defense industry. May not be a bigger defense contractor beneficiary of the Trump admin.

stock tip; Anduril is private; Kraken - they make batteries for these USV's, $3 million sales per unit. Anduril contracted to make 200 vehicles for DoD in 2025 at new facility in Connecticut. Do the math. Anduril will probably buy them at some point. Get rich folks!

This brings up a question I've had. As a small fry, how does one begin to access pre-IPO stock for entities like Anduril? Don't want to derail any further past this, but if there's a good resource for folks who aren't necessarily in a position to dump tens of thousands of dollars plus into a private company, I'd appreciate some insight.

Will delete this once you respond to prevent an issue with derailing.

Low life's like us don't get that kind of access .You would have to be in a private equity fund which has invested in Anduril at this point (or a congressman). You can, however, buy Kraken Robotics (ticker KRKNF)

From a strategic perspective, Assad's fall damages Putin's credibility and encourages Ukraine's backers.

"The Assad regime in Syria has become a casualty of Moscow's increasingly desperate efforts in Ukraine, and its collapse is a strategic and operational blow that undermines the narrative of Russia as ascendant, Kyiv as doomed, and Vladimir Putin as strategic mastermind."

Get it done. Great idea to bill Putin for his war.

"The administration is on track to disperse the U.S. portion of a $50 billion loan to Ukraine, backed by frozen Russian assets, before Biden leaves the White House, U.S. officials said. They said the U.S. and Ukraine are in "advanced stages" of discussing terms of the loan and close to executing the $20 billion of the larger loan that the U.S. is backing."

Its tough. You generally have to meet the definition of accredited investor to be able to directly hold these types of shares directly.

There are small marketplaces for buying/selling private shares but it operates more like buying private real estate than your fidelity account. So A) have over 1million in assets then B) register on these brokerages and get vetted. Then C) Put a flyer out there you want Anduril shares D) Prepare to pay huge over market prices because there isn't a market.

So yeah back to being involved in seed rounds, venture capital and angel investing.

This is also why investment banks want to be heavily involved in small ball financial instruments of private companies. Because it gets them the opportunity to be involved in a potential sell or IPO.

Interesting target for Ukraine's first use of their new Peklo cruise missile/drone. Looks to be accurate as they apparently hit the oil depot. Supposed 700km range.
