Someone made an interesting point recently in that Abbott and other republican politicians are used to being able to not change things because their voters support their rejection of anything federal, but now with more and more liberals coming in from other states those politicians will be hearing from those newer, and financially better off, voters and will likely change the way they govern, or at least speak in a manner that those on the left will want to hear.

Lets face it, the areas most affected by this are the major cities which tend to run liberal. Cruz knows his powerbase resides in the small rural areas and in turn doesn't care about his "commie-socialist" constituents. After Trump mercilessly insulted him, his wife, and his family he crawled back like an abused dog to keep his seat at the table. After he survived re-election re realized as long as he bows down to Daddy Trump he'll have his Senate seat regardless if the agenda is actually conservative or good for Texans or Americans.
