Of course he won't be the one to do it, and he'll melt when LEO tells him to go eff himself.deddog said:I wonder who he's going to send?aTm2004 said:You're complaining about Cruz, so I'd say my guy won as well. There's no way that chickenshi$ is going to do it himself.
And certainly not his blowhard followers.
Most were not zoom calls. They asked for volunteers to call and check on senior citizens. Not sure how anyone can be honest with themselves and say that's a bad idea.aTm2004 said:That's a lot of electricity being used for those calls during a time when we are asked to conserve energy. Shouldn't that be Abbott's job?Rhonda the Rash said:
He can be out in the community. Checking on those in need. He has influence to make things happen. This shows a complete lack of awareness or a lack of compassion. He can help set-up calling lists to check on senior citizens. He can help communicate critical information. He could use in influence to help the state.
I realize he won't be able to pass national legislation quickly enough to make an impact but IMO being elected senator you have a greater responsibility than just passing legislation. Your state deserves the influential power you hold to try and help them. Get on the phones with other senators/ governors to ask for assistance they can send.
This was a great post hahaRittenhouse said:
It's total bull***** The story about a guy with a phone sitting in his house starving instead of calling 911 or a local rescue facility is total crap.
How about walking to your next door neighbor? Call 911. Call the sheriff. Call a relative. Call a friend. No, instead you sit 2 days starving waiting for Beto to call.
Its all lies. Libs are liars.
Additionally, this Cancun trip aside, if he goes out on a rescue mission into the community, WHO exactly is home with HIS FAMILY to ensure they are taken care of?Rhonda the Rash said:

What about local mayors and city council members? Perhaps that task is already being filled sufficiently?
He can help set-up calling lists to check on senior citizens. He can help communicate critical information.
Sounds like he has already done all the basic level of sharing information via social media, etc
Get on the phones with other senators/ governors to ask for assistance they can send.
Sounds like he and his team are already doing this

Cruz doesn't know what specifics the state needs.
He can call up Josh Hawley and what? We send them bottles of water and gooey butter cake?
Maybe I'm old school and believe those that live in the community know who are most in need are better to be checked on by those within the community, not a politician who will have cameras around. But you're right in he has influence, and that influence can be exerted from anywhere in the world.Rhonda the Rash said:

Do you know for a fact this hasn't happened? Also, it's Abbott's job to talk with other governors for assistance, not Cruz's.Quote:

Abbott's job would include but also be much more than that. Cruz has the influence to help communities in need. There is plenty of opportunity in our large state to help and check on people.
And Hawley is from Missouri but talking to state leaders/ governors/ etc from other states is something Cruz could do.
If you want to deflect and defend him then ok. It's also ok to admit people you vote for make mistakes. Doesn't mean they suck overall.

Faustus, it's really pretty easy, he should have done what every other responsible parent would have done and said "No". I'm a US Senator and have a responsibility to my community.
Sorry, but thousands of working Americans make these kinds of decisions all the time because of their jobs. No reason why Cruz, a US Senator, paid by the taxpayers can't do the same thing.
Not saying it's a bad idea. Don't kid yourself and say he's doing it out of the goodness of his heart and not as some political tool.Rhonda the Rash said:Most were not zoom calls.
