As for the keystone pipeline, the vast majority of those jobs are journeymen jobs. Its simply on to the next worksite. To insinuate that thousands of welders, pipelayers, and field jobs would of been sustained by the pipeline is pure BS.

When you are a welder, you build stuff. When you get staffed on a project that has been ongoing for a decade, that is like a god send. That's steady work for a good long while.

Sure beats working retail at JC Penny's

You realize it is a law now that you must wear your mask in an airport and the plane or you will be kicked off, and subjected to further civil or federal penalties right?

They were blaring that crap every five minutes in the airport last week.

So yeah, instead of having himself and his family kicked off and detained due to these Draconian measures, he's following that asinine rule.

Try harder next time....and I'll second the hiding the butter knives recommendation as well.

You don't leave your fellow countrymen in the middle of a disaster. He's a U.S. Senator representing Texas and his leadership is desperately needed at home and not in Mexico.
It's indefensible.

I don't know you but I bet I can guess who you voted for in the last Presidential election...

Any time there is a national or state crisis, a government official will likely get some 'bad optics' criticism if he takes a vacation during it.

That said, the skin thickness of a seasoned political veteran like Cruz is usually pretty deep. I highly doubt he gives a flip about any criticism.
I doubt it either.

Cruz has young kids. He spent most of the holidays on election litigation and then had to turn around for that waste of an impeachment hearing last week.

This was probably one of their first chances to get away from all the noise.

Unlike many of the older members of Congress, Cruz actually had more of a life outside of politics because his children aren't adults yet.

I don't blame him for thinking of them first. He won't get those years back.

But there will always be a battle to fight in the world of politics...and always angry people out there calling for his job no matter WHAT he does.

We can all blame Cruz and others for having poor decision making skills that have lead to this entire state turning blue before much longer. He may not be able to do anything but he damn well should have known the optics of this were "rock bottom piss poor" at the very best. He should have been handing out water or throwing firewood off the back of a truck with all of the newspapers there to get photos.

You wonder how dummies like SheJack stay in office. That's how. They maintain a high profile. Cruz screwed the pooch and I have no issue calling out bonehead moves of my candidates when they make them. This was dumb.

Why don't y'all take a look what dip**** magoo Berto is doing today and think hard on how that will be remembered in the not so distant future.

However, I wish he would have stayed and spent time with his family as he had planned.

He should not have allowed the media ruin his trip.
He also blamed his daughters for his poor decisions. What a loser.

For effs sake thank you. I love living in a red state and want it to stay that way. My wife and I cringe every time we hear of someone else "hoping to turn TX blue".

The optics didn't look good and I hope it won't come back to bite him but I can see this playing in attack ads already...

I'm fairly old, I've been voting almost entirely republican since 1976. I sat this last election out, expressly due to trump, his penchant for lying, failure to credibly maintain his cabinet, Twitter rants, his conspiracy bs, and his lackluster manner he dealt with Covid. If I made a mistake, I can live with it.
Tell that to the kids whose dad lost their job at the stroke of Joe Biden's pen, the parents who are trying to get their children back into school but can't due to the teachers unions, and the family whose son or daughter are now getting sent back to needless wars. When I layed my 2 year old down in his crib for his nap, he stood up and said "Father, if Senator Cruz represents his constituents at the federal level, and the state's request for federal assistance has already been granted by the President of the United States, what are people expecting Senator Cruz to do that cannot and should not be handled by elected representatives at the local and state level." I stood there speechless for a few seconds, then told him if he wakes up with a loaded diaper, to cry for mama and not dada.

I'm amazed how people know that he's not helping at all. We saw earlier where Joaquin and SJL had churned out some paper and requests from DC. It's not like Cruz and staff weren't doing the EXACT SAME THING and may well have done so yesterday or before.

Really? After fours years of Trump spouting off that liberals are destroying America,
  • President Trump brought back over a million manufacturing jobs that President Obama said would never come back.
  • - Which resulted in a tariff war that cost US families roughly $800 a year
  • -Not once Chinese currency was devalued
  • Federal regulations under President Obama virtually destroyed the coal industry
  • - More people are employed by JCPenney (90,000) compared to the entire coal industry (53,714), Trump could of saved more jobs by bailing out JCP.
    • JC Penny was self inflicted bad example.

  • The ACA increased the cost of medical insurance after lying that cost would go down $2500.
  • - 42 of of 43 most industrialized countries in the world have figured out socialized healthcare. Something that could've saved Billions this year.
    • Socialized medical care costs a greater % of wages and care is typically substandard.
that all they do is bow down to China and "steal" American jobs.
    • Not only jobs fled but technology was stolen wholesale.
    • List of Chinese spy cases in the United States
    • - Investors are demanding that Boeing open up a plant in China despite concerns that China will steal aircraft manufacturing trade secrets wholesale. When will US executives be held accountable for the outsourcing of US jobs?
    • That has zero to do with the intellectual illegal theft occurring.

That they want to turn this country into a Venezuela-like failed state?
    • Seems that way
    • - I would hope you recognized a strawman argument.
    • Still seems that way
Trump has successfully brainwashed you into believing that 50% of America is your enemy
    • Not 50% just enough to sway the uninformed with false emotional arguments.
    • - Same could be said for either side.
    • No because the rhetoric from the Democratic Party leadership and MSM is based on emotional hyperbole. Like Maxine get in their face Waters. Nancy tear up the state of the union Pelosi. The re-education of conservatives by AOC.
    • BLM started by known Marxists funding the Democratic Party leadership with millions of dollars.
    • - If you want to get in the weeds about BLM, then we need to address Proud Boys as well. (Same for Antifa and QAnon)
    • Show me the equivalent of Actblue used by Proud Boys or QAnan to raise the millions BLM.
    • Democratic DAs across the country releasing known criminals with no bail, sanctuary cities allowing violent illegal aliens out of jail and not informing anyone leading to deaths of citizens.
    • -If you look hard enough you'll find bits of data that can support any argument.
    • You don't have to look hard to find a list of sanctuary cities in which citizens were harmed or killed by illegal aliens
    • You don't have to look hard to find DAs in Portland,Seattle, LA, Minneapolis, Detroit, Chicago that released people arrest released without bail.
and want to destroy your way of life.
    • Leading Democrats openly advocating for elimination of the electoral college is pretty damn scary.
    • - A violent mob trying to overturn the will of the people is alot scarier.
    • A small group of deluded people ended up doing some extremely stupid ****, one of them in a comical Viking hat. No where near as dangerous as your political leaders advocating elimination of the electoral college, packing the Supreme Court with activist judges.
And the only way to keep that from happening was to keep him in power. Trump was bad for America
    • Lowest unemployment for minorities in history lowest unemployment for women in decades.
    • -This is a continuing trend from the Obama years.
    • Wrong unemployment was slowly abating but the economy was stalling after all the quantitative easing ended and interest rates couldn't be lowered further. It was deregulation and lower taxes.
    • Energy independence.
    • - We always have the ability to be independent (nuclear) just never the will.
    • But happened due to President Trump's administration.
    • No new wars.
    • - Sure as hell tried to start one with Iran.
    • You got it completely backwards, positive immediate action exhibited strength prevented war.
    • Reduced burdensome regulations resulting in industrial expansion and historically rapid introduction of a vaccine.
    • - Pfizer didn't participate in operation Warp Speed. Call me old fashioned, but if regulations to prevent us from borking the planet for our children and grandchildren, I'm all for it. I don't care is Mining Company XYZ has to properly dispose of its arsenic instead of dumping it straight into a river.
    • Operation Warp speed reduced burdensome regulations allowing Pfizer to benefit in time reduction to market.
    • Reduction of corporate taxes resulting in over $trillion repatriated the first year.

The list is much longer, if you like I will post a wall of text.
    - Wall Street got a nice tax break, rich get richer, right?
    • Average take home pay on a % basis went up more for the middle class.
. He's a New York huckster who made you believe that your success depended on his success, and as January 6th proved he was as best passive about things turning violent to stay that way.
    • Bold faced lie.
    • -I love you and you are special. - Donald J. Trump
