I'm happy that the BMAs are letting their stance be heard. At least I assume they're being heard. Maybe they aren't saying anything. Who knows? Being heard and silence sounds the same to us little people.DTP02 said:TexAgs91 said:Of course that also shows the administration the level of support Sully has.DTP02 said:
I think the better practice would be to ignore them.
The administration is hearing from people with influence and money, and they are being given an idea of how their decisions will impact financial and political support.
If you thing having a confrontation, even a non-violent one, in front of Sully, is going to HELP the cause of keeping Sully, you're thinking of it completely wrong. The last thing the school wants is to keep something that will lead to ugly confrontations. Ignoring the protest and making your voice heard directly to the administration is much more effective.
Doesn't sound like Mond is hearing BMAs either. Hopefully someone can hear them.DallasAg 94 said:Mond called all of us Former Students racist. As stupid and socialistic as our admin is, they still know someone has to donate to make their lofty ideals possible.

But you're saying that the students and the alumni should just keep quiet about a major issue for A&M and let someone else handle it. Is that the gist?
No, but I think our admin does.DallasAg 94 said:Mond called all of us Former Students racist. You think he gives a damn about big donors?WHOOP!'91 said:Breaking the law is one thing, making the big donors mad is another.TexasAggie_02 said:b/c College football players NEVER break the law.Inca said:

The football team members hurt their side with their threatening behavior. In case you haven't noticed, the people staying home aren't the ones changing this country right now. Oh well. They should let their voices be heard as well. But if you think have a counter-protest that would inevitably lead to an angry confrontation in front of Sully is going to help keep Sully you've got it completely backwards. That's going to hasten his removal.
If you don't see that, then the anti-Sully folks have you beat in strategic thinking.

Best course of action here, imo, is to leave the protestors alone. They seek attention and confrontation, do not give them either
And I think at this point it's very clear that anything done as a counter is going to be portrayed as racist. I mean, the Ags that stood the last time could not have done much more to be quiet and non-confrontational...but one guy makes a remark that wasn't well thought out and the entire group is portrayed as racists that hate Aggies. Every time something like that is spread on social media, it only helps the anti-Sully side.
I don't agree with the talking points of the anti-Sully crowd. But you have to choose your battles on things like this.
If they try to do something to the statue, it will be on camera...and I don't think a ridiculous display like that would win over hearts and minds to support the removal. I think it would have the opposite impact.

Guess we can't defend anything anymore, better give in and let the left do what it wants. We definitely don't want to be perceived as racist because that's much worse than letting the statues get torn down.

I know we all think this is what should happen, but at this point isn't it apparent that it is not going to happen? Our AD was fully supportive of the terrible behavior of the athletes at the last protest. Young, Bjork, Jimbo won't do a damn thing about anything the athletes do.rlb28 said:
If TAMU athletes protest at Sully again, let's hope their respective coaches have talked to them ahead of time. These coaches should be mentors and taking your shirt off and getting in an old man's face isn't the right thing to do - no matter what the protest involves.

Agree. What comes after choosing battles? Put a stop to this, you may or may not keep Sully, but let them have some consequences , since admin jut wants to keep Cush jobs, and elected officials just want to keep getting elected.
