Are hair salons closed again? When they were, a friend who used to be a hairstylist said that if they go to people's houses to do haircuts against the stay-at-home order, they'd be risking their license. Of course, Abbott says this "isn't a stay-at-home order" so who knows.

I'm not a doctor or epidemiologist but is it not better for the virus to run through the population in June and July rather than Nov and Dec. when influenza is also running wild. That would definitely strain the hospitals. There's no stopping this thing, even with masks. Especially the pantyhose thin masks I see most people wearing.

This is my usual response to Karens at HEB that try to shame me for not wearing a mask.

From my understanding, and from what I've heard universally from medical professionals, is that the mask limits infected people from spreading the virus. It does not "protect" you from receiving it.

The best thing you can do to not get the disease is to stay socially distant from others.

That being said, the economy must re-open. I personally have zero issues wearing a mask as long as we continue opening up the country until a vaccine is out. If we wait to open until the vaccine is out, the country will be in shambles.

My husband and I were discussing last night. I don't think a summer camp would be considered commercial, or open to the public.

My kids have been rotating through camp - one there now. They are issued a Buff-style face covering that they wear in certain situations. They are kept in 2-cabin cohorts, and if they are in close inside contact with people outside of that group, they "buff up", as well as when entering places like the dining facility, where kids naturally bunch up in line. Staff is prohibited from going into any outside businesses on their days off - they can only order curbside items. They have created a little bubble that seems to be working, considering the number of kids that have rotated through over the past 6 weeks with no known cases.

My wife asked me to come up with a solution for her and the kids because she is not as comfortable as me just telling people to F! off.

I got them these masks made out of that netting like they scoop fish out of an aquarium with so you can see straight through them and see their nose mouth and teeth through the netting. But hey, they are masks and my family has zero breathing issues in them.

They wore them this morning as a test and people were like WTF. The wife chuckled. Modern problems require modern solutions.

My county doesn't have enough active cases so I won't be wearing a mask! Haven't worn a mask even once, and I don't plan on it! Yes I am virtue signaling!

If it passes, you get a 15 dollar fine if caught not wearing one.

I do wonder if the law will make sure to say it has to be over the nose and mouth. Because then I could just wear it around my neck if it doesn't specify

I kinda think that is the point because the city shut most things down for 6 weeks or so and so businesses couldn't give them revenue

The enforcement is still way too lax. I was eating in a restaurant, and a group of people were walking around not wearing a mask. Call me a Karen, but I've reported them to the TABC.

UPDATE: Just talked to a lawyer. He said 100% that masks are not required per this order as long as you socially distance inside and maintain "safe distances" outside.
