Depends on the teacher and the parents... My parents and the book were a lot more helpful than some teachers I had.

and they'll do everything they can to keep the groceries stores open and the shelves as full as possible

but prep 101 is secure your water supply

so if you're going to prep, might as well not take a half measure on the one thing you need above all else

There were rumors a month ago out of China that the virus may have found a way to get into plumbing. Some people may have extrapolated that into water purification not sifting/killing the virus.

I have been guilty of doing the 3-5 second rinse in public restrooms and then grabbing the door handle. I am now spending a solid 30 seconds scrubbing my hands and using the handicap buttons to open the doors where available.

I've seen this brought up from time to time on this thread, but what (if any) limitations are your companies putting on travel? Mine is insistent on only following the lead of governments or the CDC/WHO, so people scheduled to visit our office from Europe and South America are still planning to travel and be here next week and the week after.

Why the individuals won't postpone this non-essential travel out of common sense is beyond me, the main reason this is spreading is because people keep insisting on non-essential travelling. Look at how Italy pin-balled this thing all over Europe.

I have raised my concerns with HR and was referred to Health/Safety mgmt who won't ban travels. I guess I will just have to work from home next week and risk being written up or losing my job. Not worth the risk for us, or our families caring for young children or elderly.

I have enough storage in coolers/jugs for a couple weeks. After that I get to break out the life straws that are in my hurricane kit.

It's probably mainly political... no agency or leader wants to pull the trigger when it could be construed as too early. If they are successful, they'll get folks who will get mad and say "see, nothing happened". Unfortunately, I think the bomb is going to have to explode before we're told to take cover.

The district I teach in is 1to1, every student in 6-12 has a chromebook or laptop. I would see a district such as this being a little quicker to temporarily shut down as it is much easier to push out work very similar to what students are already doing in class. You can also record lectures or explanation lessons and push them to students to help them teach a student remotely.

Now granted this will not help my son in kindergarten who doesnt have this opportunity but I feel fairly certain me at home with him with time to work on lessons....that he wouldnt be falling behind.

It's not half baked to think that govt is going to be asked/demanded for bailouts.

You are just being stubborn now.... 2008 bailout of banks is the perfect example.

Do we do the same for banks, healthcare and airlines? You know the lobbyists are foaming at the mouth to getting rolling.

I don't think we will see all schools close, but I do think it will happen in hot spots. I know that are starting to talk about it in N. Ca because we are starting to get hit with cases

The good thing is that we've been having spring like weather in Silicon Valley. It's been sunny and high 70s low 80s. I'm hoping that continues, and helps slow down the spread.

I have always done that.

It is why I love bathrooms that have the disabled buttons. I can open doors with my elbow.

My employer has halted all non essential business travel and all large meetings. We are using teleconf and web meetings for everything.

Yeah I don't get it. Is tap-water going to be infected with corona virus? Are some of you poors in areas where the tap-water is so bad you can't drink it? Why bottled water?
