You cite a lack of critical thinking, but you want us to simply take what you say as truth with no sources to back your claim. That's not critical thinking.
I spent days getting a crash course in virulogy to understand the seriousness... I've done my research and I don't currently believe its a bioweapon. Now if you would care to share your legitimate sources, I'll be happy to review them.
Indeed. Like I said, I've gone down this rabbit hole big time and have spent too much time learning about all this in order to speak intelligently and act intelligently for the sake of my family. I've seen stuff regarding bioweapon theories, but not one of them pass muster. Peer reviews break them down hardcore. So unless he can bring legitimate material to review, he needs to stfu and stop trying to incite panic.
Anyone that's been to China is subject to quarantine upon return after a health check and is advised to self-quarantine for at least two weeks. Hubei means you're quarantined regardless. If it wasn't for that little snippet, I'd be in China and HK in a week.Infection_Ag11 said:gonemaroon said:

I posted earlier in the thread that my daughters have a classmate in italy at the moment. The school made the decision to prevent the child from returning to school when he returns.Whiskey Jacket said:

I'd cancel. You will end up with a two week quarantine at some point in your trip. Could end up in on while in Italy and then another once you get back to the US. Not worth it.Whiskey Jacket said:

OldAg is likely a loon, but why is anyone upset about reading all sides of the issue?. From the most extreme to those saying it's just the flu, exposure is good. Poor word choice there .
It's the lack of citations and the condescending "look it up" schtick.claym711 said:

Swine flu killed 12k Americans, it cost 1% of GDP, this is a huge nothing burger. Likely will not be as bad as swine flu or influenza, taking precautions, smart, over reacting dumb. The media is certainly over reacting. Any company limiting travel in the US is Likely over reacting.

Covid19 has a structure far more transmissable... it's not overreaction.
As of now, they seem to have done the job. In almost 10 weeks, the US has 20ish cases that aren't from the cruise ship? The measures ARE working. I admit I thought Trump jumped the gun when he banned the Chinese and the flights started cancelling, but it was the right call and he went from a racist to not doing enough in a matter of three weeks.Infection_Ag11 said:IrishTxAggie said:Anyone that's been to China is subject to quarantine upon return after a health check and is advised to self-quarantine for at least two weeks. My point is none of this measures will help at this point
My thoughts are if the need arises it'll be a lot easier to cancel later than deal with whatever policies are in place right now.Whiskey Jacket said:

It's also not particularly lethal. The death rate for relatively young, healthy people continues to drop as the sample size grows larger, and that's still an overestimation because of the thousands who never see a doctor because their symptoms are mild. And that's without diving into the rates of asymptomatic carriers, which seems to be the predominant presentation in young children.
The reality is the true chances of the average working age adult dying if they contract this are probably between 0.1-0.4%, and the ultimate data will bear that out. Still higher than the flu, but again nowhere near societal collapse.

Sure, now combine Corona illness/deaths with the normal flu illnesses/deaths and there is a potential problem not to be ignoredAgnzona said:
