What does US law or Texas law say about quarantine? I tried to Google but all I could get was about rabies.
Can't see uncontrolled spread if there's only 15-20 countries in the world who can actually test for it.JJMt said:At first I rolled my eyes at that, but then after further reflection wondered if he might be right.KorbinDallas said:
Good news everyone.
We are seeing uncontrolled spread in some countries, but not worldwide, and afaik there's not large-scale deaths (knock on wood).

He is a long-time party hack of a very....problematic .....political party apparatus. This is a guy who honored Mugabe as a paragon of health care initiatives.
WHO has no credibility here at the executive level.
Zero.
Suspend habeas corpus; martial law. It's an option.BCOBQ98 said:

We won't see cases in Africa, Mexico, or South America. They deal with Ebola, Malaria, and all sorts of exotic diseases on a daily and historic basis.
This is just another blip on the radar......They may lose 5 to 50 million but that's expected every once in awhile.
It's the economic impacts that are going to be the real issue in the coming days, weeks, and months.....
If China's off by a factor of ten, that means the real death rate is 10%. Hard to call that 'not bad'.Zemira said:
WHO is a clown show of the UN. I trust anything they say about as far as I can throw them, aka not at all.
I trust our CDC more, but they are hampered by ineffective tests and not wanting to stoke fear.
If the President's briefing team only think China's published numbers are off a factor of 8-10, that's not as bad as I fear. I thought at the early outset that it was closer to 100x the numbers China was reporting.

Plus, once our hospital system gets overrun (no more beds / ventilators, and/or doctors and staff no showing so they don't catch it and bring it home), that mortality rate is going to go through the roof.
Look at page 179 and you'll understand it.Nuclear Scramjet said:

Not only that but your average European has about as much room for dry storage as a studio apartment here in the States. The amount of storage I've had in every apartment I've ever rented dwarfs that, the homes I've owned dwarf that further still. (No brag meant, I mean some truly ****ty apartments have triple the average European's storage.) It's not even funny how little storage the average European has for something like that compared to here.Agnzona said:
The average size Dorm fridge in Europe is what a home of 4-5 people have. They shop everyday.
The ones in Germany are at least 15% bigger than that.Agnzona said:

Is the early data still holding up indicating that the vast majority of deaths are the elderly and those with preexisting medical conditions?GE said:Would be very interested in knowing the underlying stats here. I have to assume that the 2-4% in Wuhan reflects either very delayed, non-existent, or insufficient treatment and that the 0.7% is much closer to what properly treated cases reflect.VaultingChemist said:
