Singapore is next level humid 24/7/365 compared to Houston, and I have lived both places.

Not enough gold bond in the world to get me to live in Singapore. Gorgeous place, neat to visit, three days max at a time.
Fun place to celebrate Christmas if you ever get the chance, and the weather is close to pleasant that time of year.

Call it prepping I guess, but I'm picking up this year's hurricane supplies a bit early this year. I'm thinking in terms of being able to avoid going to Publix if things ever decide to get interesting over here and I need to hang out at home for a while. I'm basically going to catch it because of the 1 and 3 year olds, but like I said I need to get this stuff sometime before summer and I'm going to be at Sam's tomorrow anyway.

My parents are the ones I'd worry about a bit since both are in their early 70s and both with pneumonia over the past 12 months.

I work in a quasi related industry. Never can one trust the Chinese, but if anything I would guess that the initial numbers they are using are much understated.

I once contracted out medical made up goods and some medical wear to a small ass facility in Mexico and with about 30 people sewing the plant was making about 80 dozen a day of a high end, proprietary fabric, surgical protective suit. The Chinese have eleventybillion more capacity to do that kind of stuff 700 dozen a day to them in probably ome facility before mid day tea break.

On the masks, those things are easy to make and very automated. I was in a plant in Honduras years ago that made some kind of mask deal and their daily output on a 9.5 hour day was something crazy. More people were packing and sorting than were tasked with production.

There are complexes, kinda like industrial parks, in China that have 300K to 400K sewing machines, convert some of those, or maybe the behemoth facilities in Cambodia or Vietnam, to doing protective suits and the amounts would be staggering.

Now, the big question would actually be if they had the piece goods/raw materials to do so, where they needed them to do this.

After Thursday and Friday, it's pretty damn significant. If futures open where they're at now, you're looking at at least ~3.5-4% on all major indices.

Interesting video "report" - State run propoganda with interesting statistics.

Daily production of medical equipment has ramped up:
- Protective Suits up from 8700 Jan 28 daily to 62,000 feb 22
- N95 medical masks 45,000 daily Feb 2 up to 250k daily Feb 22

Definitely propaganda, there's no way they were sitting on that type of capacity unless they're including imports as production maybe. Or they're slapping together something that's bad enough quality to make Harbor Freight blush.

Can't find the post but on another forum I post on, someone said China had nationalized a company's manufacturing facility that builds N95 masks. I don't think it was 3M but someone with a plant over there. Could explain the uptick in mask production.

Houston gets hotter so it actually has a greater capacity to store water than Singapore so on it's hottest days, Houston is much more humid. However, Singapore's average Humidity is about 10% higher at 84% to Houston's 75%.

Facebook report " Story: Take this for what it is worth. Using non-conventional means I've been trying to monitor the activity levels in Chinese cities.

Something different is happening today. In some cities, for example Beijing, Nanjing, and Shanghai, the activity level has gone up significantly today over what we have been seeing the last couple weeks. In other cities the activity level is still very suppressed.

Let's call it interesting anecdotal evidence for now. Maybe some more direct evidence will come to light. If you live in one of those cities and can confirm or deny people are out and about in much greater numbers please let me know."

A response:

" I was told some Chinese were ordered back to work. I hope to talk to my friends in China later this week. Hopefully they can shed some light on things."

Uh-oh...Chinese newspapers picking up the story.

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3051981/coronavirus-did-not-originate-wuhan-seafood-market-chinese

Coronavirus did not originate in Wuhan seafood market, Chinese scientists say

The novel coronavirus that has claimed the lives of more than 2,400 people did not originate at a seafood market in the central China city of Wuhan as was first thought, according to a new study by a team of Chinese scientists.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was instead imported from elsewhere, said researchers from Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Institute for Brain Research.

The team, led by Dr Yu Wenbin, sequenced the genomic data of 93 SARS-CoV-2 samples provided by 12 countries in a bid to track down the source of the infection and understand how it spreads.

According to the study, which was published on the institute's website on Thursday, analysis suggested that the coronavirus was introduced from outside the market.

Earlier reports by Chinese health authorities and the World Health Organisation said that the first known patient showed symptoms on December 8, and that most of the subsequent cases had links to the seafood market, which was closed on January 1.

The research went on to say that based on the genome data it was possible that the virus began spreading from person to person in early December or even as early as late November.

"The study concerning whether Huanan market is the only birthplace of SARS-CoV-2 is of great significance for finding its source and determining the intermediate host, so as to control the epidemic and prevent it from spreading again," the research team said."

I guess I'm gonna be wrong on the WHO. You can't declare an epidemic if you don't Have that as a category anymore. It like "if I can't see it, it can't see me". What a joke.

" WHO says it no longer uses 'pandemic' category, but virus still emergency"

There's a link somewhere on this thread to a story that this virus originated in Saudi Arabia, was identified in the Netherlands, sent to a BSL4 facility in Winnipeg where it was then stolen and sent to the Wuhan facility by a Chicom researcher working at the Winnipeg facility.

Remember the story last week about 2,000 infections and 20 deaths in Iran?

They now admit 12 dead and only 66 infected. That math doesn't add up at all.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/24/coronavirus-dead-in-iranian-city-of-qom

Quote:

On Monday, a lawmaker from Qom a Shia holy city 75 miles (120 km) south of the capital, Tehran, accused Iran's health minister of lying about the scale of the outbreak.

According to the semi-official Ilna news agency, which is close to reformists, the lawmaker, Ahmad Amirabadi Farahani, said there had been 50 deaths from the coronavirus in Qom alone.

"The rest of the media have not published this figure, but we prefer not to censor what concerns the coronavirus because people's lives are in danger," the Ilna editor Fatemeh Madiani told Agence France-Presse.

But the country's deputy health minister rejected the report. In a news conference broadcast live on state television, Iraj Harirchi said 12 people had died from the coronavirus and 66 had been infected.

"I categorically deny this information," he said, adding: "This is not the time for political confrontations. The coronavirus is a national problem."
