This kind of thinking explains why the Iranians accidentally shot down a civilian airliner.

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, we still think it's a camel.
H1N1 killed 56 and infected 4000 just 4 months ago in Iran. Did I miss the thread on that?
I don't think so... wasn't that about the same time as The Regime was killing hundreds of protesters and massive rioting?

Might have gotten overshadowed by that, if so. First I've heard about it.

Eleven people at the University of Nebraska Medical Center have tested positive for COVID-19, according to UNMC.

UNMC announced the CDC verified the test results completed Monday by the Nebraska Public Health Lab on 13 people for coronavirus monitoring. According to UNMC, 11 people tested positive while two tested negative.

10 people are currently in the National Quarantine Unit and three others are in the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit, UNMC said.

Jeri Seratti-Goldman is one of the only two patients who don't have the virus. Her husband, Carl Goldman, tested positive for COVID-19 and is one of the three in the Biocontainment Unit. She said she can't believe eleven of the people she evacuated Japan with tested positive.

"It's shocking. I'm absolutely shocked," she said.

She said as of right now, she feels "great." She said she has no signs of the virus, no fever and works out every day.

According to UNMC, most people are not showing symptoms of the disease, but some people are exhibiting minor symptoms.

Seratti-Goldman is completely separated from the people she went on the Diamond Princess cruise ship with. Her husband is in the Biocontainment Unit, her friend tested positive and is still in Japan, and her friend's husband is in quarantine in Texas.

"There is no medicine. There is no antibodies. Both my friend and my husband are being treated with Gatorade," she said.

Even though everyone that was in her cruise cabin is exhibiting symptoms, Seratti-Goldman is hopeful she remains the exception.

I hope she is wrong about her friend and her husband "being treated with Gatorade", and not anything else.

The exponential numbers I posted near the beginning of this thread are closer to the actual numbers than the propaganda you are being fed by governments. Note that they disembarked the passengers on the Japanese Cruise ship as the world watched the numbers of infected jump from 1 to 3, to 10, to 20, to 40, 60, 110, 200, 350, 600... Then the deaths started.... Now, we cant track how it all ends. That's because they are about to start raising the body count exponentially from those passengers and we could ascertain a mortality rate. That cant happen - the masses will panic once they see why China is locked down.

It is the RO value for infection, and all about the mortality rate among the infected. The RO value puts it at over 1 billion infected.

Over 1 billion people are infected, the vast majority dont even know it because they are asymptomatic and will be for another 2-3 weeks.

300,000 are dead.

Get your food and medicine stocked while you can.

Otherwise - you are screwed. Well, good chance we are all anyway....

You realize your doom and gloom, complete apocalyptic take on this destroys your credibility and why everyone thinks you're wearing a tinfoil hat.

The cruise ship numbers should shock no one. Anyone that's ever been on a cruise ship knows that it's a giant germ tube and viruses move through it extremely rapidly. The two that died from the ship were 84 and 87.

Disturbing news out of Italy overnight. 20 new cases for a total of 41. Its numbers have doubled each day for the last 2 days (admittedly, a short time period to make any broad generalizations). What bothers me as much as the gross numbers and growth rate, though, is that a high percentage of those infected are classified as dead, critical or serious. To be more precise, 2 have died and 16 are either serious or critical, i.e., 44% of the total. Among those infected are 5 health workers and doctors.

South Korea continues to have significant problems as well, with the number of cases doubling every day for the last 3 or 4 days. It now has a total of 433 cases. Only 11 of those are classified as dead, serious or critical, or 2.5%.

This virus reminds me of a whack-a-mole. When you think you've got it stamped down somewhere, it pops up again elsewhere.

Japan, SK, Italy, and Iran are concerning.

Singapore is still encouraging despite the new cases:
Quote:

As of 22 February 2020, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified three more cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore. Of these, one is linked to the cluster at Grace Assembly of God, and one was among the group of Singaporeans who were evacuated from Wuhan on 9 February. Contact tracing is underway for the remaining case to establish any links to previous cases or travel history to China.

It's math.

The problem with your point of view is the sophomoric approach you have to the reported numbers. Reported numbers are not actual numbers. Especially anything coming out of China. Especially with the motivation governments have to guard against panic.

Example: four of 12 workers at a facility in Japan are out sick. All showing classic signs of CoronaV. None were tested for it, Why? None knowingly came into contact with someone they *knew* traveled from Wuhan. What is the possibility they may have come into contact with an infected person that is a secondary or tertiary infectee?

Less than 1% of those that are sick with flu like symptoms are being tested for CoronaV - and that is in Western countries. Also, for the few tests being done - there are a significant number of false negatives. This virus knows how to hide, and how to stealth its attack. It is a military grade weapon that escaped from China's L4 lab.

You cant count what you cant see, or do not want to see. You cant report that which is not counted.

The Corona virus is like the Honey Badger: "it dont care" if it's being counted. It just spreads with an RO between 4 and 8.

So, its spreading. Question is the mortality rate of the infected. The governments did not want us to observe it from the Japanese cruise ship.

There is a reason we are approaching 1 out of every 10 people on earth are quarantined as of this date. And that reason is not a few stuffy noses and coughs.

Only a complete idiot would think it was.

54E. The key.

They flew on the evacuation flight of Diamond Princess passengers from Japan. All those testing positive were kept separated by plastic screens at the back of the plane.

Although CDC didn't want to evacuate them, I think you are being a little too harsh. Omaha is designed to treat these type of infections, and our doctors need to find out as much as they can about this disease.

I really don't care. You are selfishly KNOWINGLY putting yourself and others at risk. You're going to be quarantined regardless so admit you feel sick. If the government is footing the bill to bring you back l, test you, study the virus, help others, and you want to play games? They are being flown back on taxpayer dime to specifically be treated, and they LIE?

Sadistically the world needs to rid itself of the lower thinkers like these people.

Full segment video above.

They lied about testing negative when they didn't actually know if they did or didn't. They didn't get sick until they were on the flight.

Did they disclose their illness on the flight? Were they then isolated from other passengers?

I think they are selfish and acted irresponsibly, and I would have been angry if I was on the flight.

He explained his logic above. He's counting the high numbers of people quarantined as evidence the mortality rate is much higher. Seems like a big jump in logic to me. There's really no tangible evidence that the mortality rate is anything to worry over at this point.

I do also wonder if the warmer conditions in Singapore are actually helping. Didn't Australia have a case or two? We haven't heard anything about Australia since then and they are in summer conditions right now.

What we really need is an early summer, I think. At the very least to cut down on the flu so we can easily discern between the two.

And I think the CDC is right to do everything in its power to delay this as long as possible in the US. Gives us a chance to get out of flu season.

I am very interested to see where we are in 2-3 weeks.

Why not? Why should your coworker be more concerned about going this year than any other? It's flu season right now just like it is every year during Mardi Gras. Do you think stopping your way of life should be done because there's a bug floating around in predominately Asia?

.

Here is the problem. Everyone that ends up in serious or worse shape needs a ventilator. There aren't enough for a widespread infection of the population.

For example in the US we have about 100k ventilator beds total. Once infected and serious hit that threshold, standard of care will go down and mortality will start to go up exponentially.

Indonesia (the world's 4th most populous country and a major hub for Chinese trade) has zero reported cases. It must be the weather!!! Or could it be that they just aren't reporting anything???

Would y'all please stop with the climate talk stopping this virus. Most people is the US spend 90% of their time indoors. That % is lower in other countries but people still spend a majority of their time INDOORS.

As a rule -- governments lie more than they tell the truth. This is about anything and everything. But, when the markets are at risk -- they will especially lie.

Do you really believe the CDC figure that there are only 35 cases of CoronaV in the U.S. as of yesterday? 35? That's just an absurd number at this point in the pandemic.

Three things:

1) I am getting my numbers from the biological nature of the COVID-19 virus as reported in studies (both non-peer reviewed and peer-reviewed) and as reviewed by researchers that are far more expert than I on the subject. Early on these researchers pinned a relatively high RO value to this virus. I posted those figures here early on in this thread. As more became known about the virus - the RO increased. We now know that is far easily transmitted than initially suspected. It is, indeed, a pandemic.

- We know the incubation period is 24+ days and that the infected are asymptomatic during most of this period
- We know that it is spread via respitaroy droplets
- We know that it is spread via urine and feces
- We know that it is spread via surface contact as it can live up to 9 days at ambient room temperature on surfaces.

2) I am interpreting the data within the observations of what countries have *done* in reponse to the virus -- not what they have *said*. What have they done? Not just quarantine the sick -- they quarantined the community. They did not simply stop there -- they quarantined the city. They did not stop there either -- they quarantined the region. Within the quarantine -- China literally welded the doors shut of those suspected of being infected so that they could not leave their homes. Such actions are not taken for a mild virus of stuffy noses and coughs. China also closed down the Internet to halt citizen reporting of what is going on there.

Those are drastic actions. Such are taken only when a deadly virus is killing at rates that could justify such, for China is losing econonmic power in the face of such actions -- now, and in the future -- as governments react to make sure that China is no longer sole source for various goods and services.

3) How are the numbers that are reported being derived? Who is being tested? What criteria invokes the test? Who is counting the results of the test? Can those numbers, no matter the diligence by which they are collected and reported, be used as *any* guide as to the actual infection rate given Item 1 above? Certainly not given a 24+ day incubation period.

What we don't know is the mortality rate. We had a perfect chance to calculate that for the Japanese Cruise ship. But, once the infected started dying -- they broke up the passengers and moved them around the world, thus masking the final results from the public. What we do know is that the infection rate was a hockey stick.

Unlke the red-herring and straw men that IrishAggie throws my way -- I am not advising anyone to head to a bunker, or put on a tin foil hat. I have simply advised people to stock up on about 30-60 days of food stuffs, disposable goods, and medicines should things deteriorate in their area due this pandemic. If you don't need it for the COVID-19 pandemic -- perhaps you will for the next hurricane or tornado. Perhaps you lose work and can fall back on it. Perhaps you donate it to the local food bank.

Reasonable advice, would you not agree -- in the face of 100s of millions being quarantined due to a virus with an RO of 4-8, and an unknown mortality rate? Indeed, advice that is win/win no matter how this ends.
