China is basically coming to a stand still economically, therefore the world Economy will be slowing also. Infected persons are spreading the virus before showing symptoms. The mortality of this virus seems to be 20-30 times that of the normal flu. The spread of this virus appears to be 2 to 3 times more than the normal flu. I'm sure I have left off several other important facts.
Here is my personal answer again.
The death rate may be a lot lower due to the unknown number of cases that are mild and never wind up being tracked. Right now the death rate is only for those bad enough to go to the hospital or seek out testing. At least I hope...
Maybe, but that would also mean that it is even way more contagious. This would be equivalent of tracking the more serious version of it. Essentially a lower R0 but higher mortality than actual. Seems like it kind of evens out.

I've seen numerous press releases from CDC about minor childhood diseases. I'd love to see the CDC press release where they said to avoid anyone from Asia.
That's my point. In a lot less time there are already a lot more cases, so how is not more contagious?
