Color me extremely skeptical of winning of that amount off of house games. Poker flat out, plausible. Machines, no way.

What if he was laundering money for ISIS but things went south and they set him up?
Isis would shout Akbar and wouldn't run away because their goal is to die in their attacks.
Scary though if this could be the first sight of an American ISIS network. Actually, it is scary no matter what because it has given a new and proven blueprint to terrorists

I have thought about this angle since it happened and tend to agree with you. My concern though is the "records" have been altered to fit the story or he was given money to buy guns (legally in his name) then sell those guns on the black market and keep the money (as payment for off the books services.)Fizban said:
Do people here actually think government sanctioned "gun runners" buy guns 1-2 at a time at retail stores around town?
His purchases are on the books in his own name. He tried and apparently failed to acquire tracer rounds. He was using bump stocks, not some kind of legit machinegun, etc etc. He doesn't appear to have had a single weapon that wasn't purchased in his own name or was illegal, or even hard to get.
If he was used to dealing with weapons buying/selling on any significant scale he sure as heck didn't show it.
I mean honestly, some of these theories are just moronic.
You want a gun runner? Here is a gun runner:

You don't. It's just a false story that is being reported as fact to continue to build the narrative of a lone wolf poker playing killer. Just like the story about the fuel tanks.TexasAggie_02 said:

Not saying you are not right. But then again the official word wants us all to believe Seth Rich died in a mugging gone wrong.Brock Landers said:

I agree but what feeds it are pictures of US senators with the very leadership of ISIS. I don't think we went in a long con with Isis on our soil with this president. I do think this guy is "sticky". I can only guess what his relationship is with government, mafia, cartels, etc. Regardless, he has just enough on him to make this difficult for the fbi. Usually the give a list of items retrieved at his home that they are processing for evidence. Have they said they found his computer? Or did this guy not even have one?
To answer the last sentence it lasts only nine minutes because he was probably dead.GCP12 said:It makes a whole lot more sense than a 65 year old real estate millionaire just deciding to shoot up a bunch of people for no reason. So crazy ISIS gun runner funded by American assassin network is pretty far out there, but there are some pretty puzzling holes in the story so far. Occams Razor makes sense. Psychopath snapped, planned out, and committed mass murder. No real rhyme or reason because insanity by definition goes against the norm.
Then we have the Seth Rich style of story.
Both types exist and as easy as it can be to dismiss some conspiracy theory.....it also isn't TOO incredibly hard for me to imagine one either. One that falls somewhere in the middle of the official word and the extreme edge of conspiracy.
I guess we shall see.

The issue here is that people are leaping from "parts of this don't make sense and there are big gaps in our understanding," to "OMG! There must be a giant conspiracy with 300 different people involved and it goes straight to the top!"
How is it that people who are so adept at spotting every little inconsistency with the admittedly incomplete story as we know it are utterly incapable of spotting the giant giant holes in their idiotic theories?
"We don't know exactly how the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids" somehow turns into "OMG, Aliens! "
I know this. So why did he shoot himself? Brings an entire arsenal, sets up this elaborate plan and chickens out 9 minutes in? If he's just some psycho, that doesn't add up.agsalaska said:To answer the last sentence it lasts only nine minutes because he was probably dead.GCP12 said:It makes a whole lot more sense than a 65 year old real estate millionaire just deciding to shoot up a bunch of people for no reason. I have two possible theories on this:
1) it'makes it easier to cope with the fear of this type of event to think that it took some widespread effort of the government to pull it off, rather than the idea that some whack job - at any moment - could twist off and shoot hundreds of people.
2) some folks just aren't very bright

Perhaps he had a brief moment of lucidity, really saw what he'd done, and in a fit of despair and conscience decided he deserved to die?GCP12 said:I know this. So why did he shoot himself? Probably much more likely someone or someones with connections to people in government were involved in illegal activities than the casino. The casino already has a license to steal, and it's legal.Just an Ag said:

I think there's a gun deal or sting gone wrong here. We've heard there were 47 guns in the room. Why have we only seen pics do 4, maybe 5 of those guns? Could it be that the rest were nicely packed in a case for convenient transport or display?

He couldn't buy them because they didn't have any to sell, not because he was prevented from buying them.
That might indicate that the burger, soup, and bagel he ordered from room service was for him alone. Apparently, he was a big eater or at least in the habit of ordering big.Quote:
He ordered two entrees -- lemon chicken and scallops with snow peas -- at a restaurant in the hotel on Saturday night, but dined alone.
