Christian nationalism disgusts me, and is a lie from the pit of hell...Take that crap and shove it in the Stygian Pit where it belongs.

Another thought: A nation has no obligation to be indifferent toward its own heritage and continuation. In fact, that indifference would be considered cultural suicide almost everywhere else on earth.

Can't a historically Christian civilization legitimately give preference to (and attempt to preserve) the demographic, cultural and institutional conditions that created that civilization? You appear to think this is abhorrent. Why?

Historically Christian civilization? What does that even mean? Am I going to get an earful of "Judeo-Christian" scree now? Go ahead. See if you can top Phil 3:20 with your upcoming lecture.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

The only Judeo part of Christianity was the part that nailed him to the cross.

Phil 3:20 is describing our behavior is based on the fact that our identity and belonging is to Christ and His (heavenly) commonwealth. I, of course, agree that because we belong to Christ we must behave and pledge ourselves to that heavenly loyalty. It's how St Paul opens his epistle in Philippians.

If anything this implies that our identity as a people group (which is what both ethnos and nation mean) is uniquely and explicitly Christianity. Which, incidentally is what St Peter says in 1 Pet 2:9.

You're a Christian nationalist and don't even know it.

Is that why the first half of your Bible are the Jewish scriptures?

Not the Jewish scriptures. Judah is one tribe 12 of Israel of 12.

They're still Jewish scriptures, though you like to play around with translations and chapters.

That's maybe the weakest argument you've ever made.

The scriptures are older than the concept of "Jewish" so they can't be "Jewish" scriptures.

Christianity is older than modern Judaism and is of the same faith that formed and continuously used those scriptures.

Also, aren't you an atheist? Literally why do you care about something you think is a myth? Who does Homer belong to outside of classics departments and why does it matter?
