new version of House of God by Dr. S Shem.

More Master and Commander

Armor by John Steakley

Pillars of Earth

I believe the BBC made some movies about the character Richard Sharpe (by Bernard Cornwell) in the Napoleonic wars but I would like some big budget coverage of the books. Most of Cornwell's stuff is good.

Sequel to Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

sequel to buckaroo banzai

Road to Gandolfo by ludlum

Ender's Game

ooo, Belgariad! That's a good one! Be nice to see more movies like Conan.

Along with Rainbow 6, Without Remorse (as long as they keep it like he wrote it)

Weird...I immediately thought of the exact same thing.

The Archer's Tale stuff is almost ideal for a period piece.

ditka- I read the 1st two of the archer's series but somehow never got around to the 3rd. Also, Redcoat is a stand alone book that might be nice as a movie.

Third one's kinda anitclimactic, but I borrowed it as opposed to paying for it so I can't complain.

Raonbow Six was such an awesome book. And it seems exactly like what they would want to make a movie out of.

Confederacy of Dunces

Seems like someone said on here one was in the works and then later I recall something about it being put on hold.

Oh wow! Confederacty of Dunces would be hilarious! I've wanted to see that movies since I read it in a Lit class at A&M. Most histerical book I've ever read.

I just did a little Confederacy of Dunces reasearch. It looks like Will Ferrell is attached to play the lead. Now that should be awesome!

Confederacy has been "in the works" for at least a few years that I can remember it being talking about. Philip Seymour Hoffman was rumored as the lead, then that gave way to Jack Black, but ultimately it was postponed again.

I believe there is already a movie in the works for Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow. They're combining the storylines I think.

Poisonwood Bible = chick flick. Decent book, but I can't envision a guy wanting to see this movie.

I'd be just fine with them never making a movie out of any book I've read (or ever will read) ever again. Take for instance the LOTR trilogy. While Peter Jackson directed some beautiful movies (and honestly did one of the best jobs that I've ever seen in translating a book to the screen) he still went and mucked up the story, added his own stuff and to a certain extent probably muddled my internal image of the books. As detail oriented as I am, it bothers me when things are left out, or they aren't as I pictured them as I was reading the books.

The Crichton and Clancy novels (to take two other popular authors that have had a number of books turned into movies) are the same way. You have some movies that still turn out to be good movies (Jurassic Park, Red October) but they pale in comparrison to the book. Then you have movies that just butcher books (Sphere, Sum of All Fears).

Nowadays I stick mostly to non-fiction, so its not too much of a concern.

I agree on the Clancy/Crichton books/movies. While Red October was an entertaining movie, they did leave out a lot of interesting stuff from the book. I hated long stretches of Jurassic Park, the movie, but find it interesting that many of the major sequences from the book did not make it into the first movie, but showed up in either of the sequels. For instance the Tyrannosaur chasing the people into a cave from The Lost World, which was similar to a sequence in the original book, and the Pterodactyl (sp?) sequence from Jurassic Park III was in the original novel as well.

I'd like to see real efforts made on some of Clancy's remaining novels (Without Remorse, Debt of Honor, Rainbox Six, The Cardinal of the Kremlin), plus those Isaac Asimov robot novels (can't recall the titles, but I'm not talking about I, Robot).

At the risk of exposing my supreme geekness, the Wheel of Time novels. Though it will never happen. At least the Wheel of Time Novel New Spring is going to be reissued in comic book format.

I also would like to see the Dark Tower as a movie.

With respect to the Belgariad, I would rather see Ruby Knight series from the Eddings books.

Poisonwood Biblie would be one of those artsy-fartsy chick flick movies that absolutely no heterosexual male ever wants to see. At least with the romantic comedy chick flicks you get a couple of laughs out of it.

I second Rainbow Six! I wonder why that hasen't been done yet.

I have always thought Red Storm Rising would be his best made to movie book, though.

When We Were Orphans by the guy the wrote the book that Remains of the Day was based on. Never saw that movie, but after reading this book, it seemed like it could easily be adapted.

That being said, if the book seems too much like a movie, I don't usually like it.
