I forgot who the Snyderverse super fan on here was but I'm kinda in the same boat I would rather watch those than the new Superman so I have no interest in this movie either unless there was really good word of mouth.

Ziegler's continued ranting has led folks to have little patience for this kind of thing. So, even though Adcock's comments aren't the worst. It seems to be another actress picking a fight with average Americans for no reason.

Exactly. It's been completely overblown by some and now they all have to walk the line, just like we all do with our jobs.

If you are a modern actor you have to be smart enough to just shut your mouth, it only takes 1 loose lipped interview. You're an actor... act... be likeable. You don't have the luxury of running your mouth like you are just hamming it up with friends at a backyard BBQ. Everyone is watching... it's the trade you make for your millions.

When you live in a bubble of entitlement that Ricky Gervais even calls out, it's easy to speak your "mind", if you have one, and think nothing can touch you in a negative way for your comments.

Yeah, some of these morons lose sight of the fact that at the end of the day, this is still a business. It needs to make money or it won't exist. Val Kilmer had a reputation of being difficult to work with on set - especially with his directors, but later in his career acknowledged a lot of regret and mainly called out that he didn't appreciate that it was a business and not just all about his acting. A different kind of issue than some of these morons that run their mouth publicly, but the same fundamental lack of awareness

Better or worse than the Snow White actress attacking the critics?

I don't know what young actors/actresses think is going to happen if they start going on the attack instead of just staying quiet but nothing good will come of it.

It's not as bad as the Snow White actress, but she's said a lot of **** in interviews that many just don't appreciate. She's not a very charming person, she's said several things that many aren't thrilled about, it's a source material that no one really cares about, and it sounds like it's just not a very good movie.

But it's also a circular debate. When you have many involved who are so quick to immediately point to "SEXISM" as the reason a movie like this may fail, it makes critical people entrench themselves even more and want to hate it even more.

It just falls into the standard Hollywood bull**** we have seen recently. Abrasive feminist actress is antagonistic during the press tour for a movie no one is really that excited for anyways. People react negatively, projections come out for poor performance, and immediately those involved use their scapegoat of "sexism" for the poor performance. Rinse and repeat.

Alternatively, there have been MANY actors and actresses who don't choose to shoot themselves in the foot or tank their projects by being abrasive, hateful to the source material, or disrespectful towards the fanbase, and it never becomes an issue. My favorite example that I love to use is the fan reaction from when the actor who played Sanji in One Piece was announced. There was apparently a lot of backlash from fans. Did the actor take to social media or press junkets to insult the fans/audience? No. He took it as a challenge to portray the character as faithfully as he could. This led to no scandal, no review tanking, and a performance/show that fans love.

It's really not that hard to just not be an indignant *******, but these actresses can't seem to get out of their own ways.

TCTTS' behavior around these topics has been a bit shocking - I wondered for the longest time why he cared enough to engage. Then, I saw his comment that basically said not combating it meant condoning it. That's a heavy burden to heap on oneself.

Some minor spoiler review:
1st I never read the source material.

Pros: The cast was fantastic. Supergirl, Lobo and Ruthie were perfect. Krem grew on me towards the end. Villian actually use his brains to fight Kara; however see Negative. Love that ending set up Kara as a future Fury. She is not Clark. LOBO!!! I wanted more... so good

Negative: The James Gunn music fight felt off. The Brigands weren't a real threat except for Krem. Didn't make sense that krem knew how to fight Kryption.. did he ever go against Kal El? He just happen to have kryptnite. Did not like that Kara refer to Superman as Clark.. she should be calling him Kal El.. or Kal. No way, the robots didn't teach Clark his native language. Her father would have told his teenage daughter about Clark mission from his father especially since they made it clear that he knew. Finally, no way Lobo get captured.

Overall: B-

Yeah, that's what i've heard from numerous places, which definitely will push me towards waiting for "free" on a streaming service to see it.

Where the heck did all the criticisms of this movie come from? What I just saw was not worthy of such crap as has been polluting movie threads prior to release now for a while. That is not to say that Supergirl was a masterpiece on the level of, say, Iron Man or Superman: the Movie. In a word, it was fine.

I didn't think I would like Kara based on the trailers, but she actually had an arc, finishing as a different person than she was at the start. I also liked the flashbacks of her back story. Lobo was great, a seriously fun yet psychotic character that I was not previously familiar with. The vengeful girl was a good character as well. The primary villain isn't going to make anyone think of Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor or either iteration of General Zod, but he served the story pretty well.

The movie stagnated a bit when Supergirl goes to a planet with twin suns, one a green one that impacted her like Kryptonite. It felt like she was out of action for too much time in a movie that runs less than 2 hours. But when the green sun went down and the yellow sun rose, her return to action was pretty cool.

I don't like the visual style in Gunn's DC universe. It worked for Guardins of the Galaxy, bit I don't believe it works for these characters. And the music either sucked or was not memorable. My opinion, these movies need a big score like the original Superman or The Avengers movies had.

Is this a movie I will see again in a theater? Nope. I will watch it on streaming though. It was not at all a bad movie, and I do find myself curious about what was cut out. 7/10

I really hate that social media labels a movie a bomb before it ever even opens. So stupid. I saw Supergirl earlier tonight and really liked it a lot. Was it the best movie ever? No, but it was really good and I loved it. I also really liked her playing Supergirl and I wasn't sure how I would going in. Always go see a movie yourself to decide what you think about it. Anyway, I loved this Supergirl movie and like the above poster just said, it was a great movie. Unfortunately because of the social media blitz of "how bad it is" before it ever came out, it's unlikely that we'll get sequels with her and Superman or anything. Very annoying. If you want a fun time though, go see it!

I genuinely enjoyed the first act, and liked the actors playing Super Girl, Ruthie and Lobo. Her story is super compelling and the flashbacks were effective at explaining her character's anger and grief. It really fell off for me in the 2nd and 3rd acts- I just don't enjoy the endless slug fests on gray/bleak post apocalyptic color palettes. The score absolutely didn't work for me, and the song they played over the last fight was a weird choice.

I went with someone who knew and loved the comic and after hearing that story and seeing some of the art, I can't for the life of me understand why they changed it. . What a missed opportunity for a cool story.

I think this review is excellent: https://www.vulture.com/article/supergirls-biggest-weakness-its-a-bad-adaptation.html

I do like him as Supes and he seems like a good guy, so its going to suck when this Gunn DCU inevitably implodes like its trending towards.

Oh man, yall liked Lobo? I thought he was stupid and completely unnecessary to the story. All he did was go around calling people bastids and conveniently appearing when supergirl was in danger. I would have much rather Ruthie come out as some sword genius. I kept expecting it to happen each time her attacks were stopped at the last minute, then when she finally was free to let loose, supergirl give her a look and Ruthie be like "what, my dad made swords for a living, of course he taught me to use them". Krem and the rest of the bad guys were super lame and not at all threatening. I also hate the trope of "we'll kill her later" dumbass, if you want her dead, ****ing kill her now. This could have easily been changed to "we'll use her for bait for the kryptonian" and then it would have made a lot more sense.

I've perused Outkick for over a decade now (it's gone way downhill by the way) and Clay's take is as clueless and dumb as his website has become. The comments by the actress have about 5% to do with this movie tanking. It's been spelled out plenty on this board already the low demand for a Supergirl movie. The trailers only further diminished interest in it, and once the access critic reviews started nailing it the movie's fate was sealed. While the actress's comments stirred up plenty of rage amongst online media who secretly love that stuff because it generates clicks on their articles and posts, it really had very little to do with this thing bombing.

But hey, that follow up post has a point....Sydney Sweeney starring as a more likeable, wholesome Supergirl with some tongue-in-cheek sexual innuendo would at least double the net profit this current version is going to make.
