It's fascinating that some of the same posters refusing to see this movie because of their perception of the actress's politics are on another thread criticizing those who canceled their Nate Bargatze tickets because of his.
I hadn't heard any of the actress's comments before seeing the movie and I thought she did a great job in the movie. She's good in house of dragons too.
That is not the same thing.
Nate Bargatze didn't make comments about anyone or any group. He just had the unbelievable audacity to go to something that he wanted to watch. Since it was the UFC fight at the White House and everything associated with Trump is pure evil, people thought he should be canceled.
He's still selling out shows.
Alcock was talking about people giving her negative reviews and made the "Christian dads" comment as if it were a negative to be one. She was insulting towards a group of people that will generally take a day off of work in the summer to take their daughters and their friends to girl shows. It wasn't a smart move.
It's affected the box office.
The other big difference is that the people that got mad about Bargatze were actively trying to cancel him.
Most fathers that I know that are Christians just shrug their shoulders and have the "OK, I'll just spend my money somewhere else" attitude and go on about their lives when a celebrity makes comments about them .
That and they laugh at how celebrities that live in their bubble think that their attitude is indicative of the rest of the world.
