I already have my tickets for opening night. I'll let you know if it's worthy of being mentioned in the same breath with Alien and Aliens.DannyDuberstein said:
Huge Alien fan, but the preview before Deadpool didn't do much for me. Gonna tentatively tab this for 2nd weekend and see how folks feel after the 1st as to whether I just wait for streaming

Theatrical Exclusive
When they show these types of movies on Alien planets the twist is that the human impregnates the face hugger.
I love this so much. @steveasbell and the folks over at 20th Century Studios certainly know how to have a good time!!! #AlienRomulusTH https://t.co/bvM3GsYGCT

Hopefully. I just look back at the cast that made the first two so great. Sigourney was 30 for the 1st . Paxton and Biehn were like 30-31. Tom Skerritt was great. Loved Al Mathews as Apone. Loved Bishop. Then Paul Reiser being a proper weasel. Pretty wide range. This group just looks like a young meal for our favorite maniac(s), like Friday the 13th casts

Ladies and Gentlemen, Alien Romulus is by far the best movie of the year. It’s the best in the franchise, and may be my new favorite horror. Can’t wait to see it again and I’m so excited for the world to enjoy this masterpiece like we did tonight. -hat guy🦒 (video taken by the… pic.twitter.com/cDLj64ub27

#AlienRomulus The bitch is back. Was skeptical going in, but this is easily one of the better films in the franchise. Fede Álvarez doesn't disappoint. Awesome sound design and world-building. The practical effects are so good that the film gave me nightmares. pic.twitter.com/Z46KNWxYhn

• Fede brought us back to the horror roots without compromising on the action
• Great homages to the original while adding new elements to the franchise
• CRAZY ENDING
• definitely watch the OG and ALIENS beforehand

it truly has a perfect mix of the horror elements you loved from the 1979 original and the badass set pieces from Aliens (ambiance, tension and buildup, sound design, sets all on point)

Fede Alvarez was the perfect choice for this one. If you’re a true Xenomorph fan, trust me—you WON’T be disappointed!
I had doubts about the young cast too, Man, I was SO WRONG.

Well all of that sounds promising.
But to call this the best of the franchise. Not buying that. And that is a part of what has made making sequels to Alien so difficult. You simply cannot scare the **** out of the audience on the same level as 1979. The audience already knows what the alien looks like.
Which is exactly what I consider Alien to be, although I tend to think of it as a science fiction movie with some horror elements. IMO, Alien can never be topped or even matched. It was a ground-breaking movie and remains as intense now as it was in June 1979. When you boil that movie down, it really is a seriously upgraded "IT! The Terror From Beyond Space" from the late 1950s. Critter gets onboard a spaceship and proceeds to hunt down and kill the crew. That 50s movie was schlock, but fun and worthy of a watch for the laughs at the dude in a bad rubber suit. Alien was done the same, although with a far better rubber suit.Quote:
