The @fedalvar has officially done it. ALIEN: ROMULUS weaves Scott's terrifying claustrophobia and Cameron's game-over carnage to create an ALIEN movie that sits with its predecessors and stands on its own. It is an absolute wrecking ball of a movie. See it big, loud, and scream. pic.twitter.com/zgh89tNnBT

For decades film nerds have celebrated #Alien being brilliant Sci-Fi horror while #Aliens was able to one of the best Sci-Fi action films of all time
— Coy Jandreau (@CoyJandreau) August 9, 2024
Finally after all these years #AlienRomulus blends the two and feels like the perfect 3rd entry. Couldn’t speak higher of it pic.twitter.com/p6YQuvIt6U

Well all of that sounds promising.
But to call this the best of the franchise. Not buying that. And that is a part of what has made making sequels to Alien so difficult. You simply cannot scare the **** out of the audience on the same level as 1979. The audience already knows what the alien looks like.
Was thinking this same thing. I suppose in theory it's possible it could be the best film in the franchise. But if that's the case, it'll be the best sci-fi horror film ever made, and probably in the Top 20 of all films ever made. In other words, unlikely.
It's shaping up to be another great weekend at the box office with @AlienAnthology #AlienRomulus poised to possibly hit $50m+ this weekend for @20thcentury . Even if it gets to $45m, that is a huge win again to bring this franchise back. Reviews look to be very strong as well. pic.twitter.com/RrstI1lnKh

#AlienRomulus IS F%&KIN PHENOMENAL!!
— Cris Parker (@3CFilmss) August 13, 2024
Fede Alvarez cleverly crafted a story weaving in the best elements from ALL the past movies. Perfect balance of Horror & Action. Breathtaking visuals! Spaeny & Jonsson are the MVPs. AND MY GOD THAT 3RD ACT🔥Favorite movie of the year so far!! pic.twitter.com/MrwDoVOblS
Alien: Romulus is shockingly good.
— BD (@BrandonDavisBD) August 13, 2024
This movie is so inventive with horror, thrills, and visuals while never crossing into gratuitous blood or gore. It emulates the original Alien movies so well.
I had to pick my jaw up off the floor in the third act. That was insane. Wow. pic.twitter.com/0XVQsx2tkQ
ALIEN ROMULUS@fedalvar delivers a solid entry to the franchise. Intense, action-packed, full of LOTS of Xenomorph & Facehugger chaos, with a wild final act.
— Mike’s Monsters (@mikes_monsters) August 13, 2024
It might be the ALIEN film fans have wanted since ALIENS in 1986 (minus Ripley, Hicks & Newt).
It's a good one! pic.twitter.com/4CTpci383M
#AlienRomulus is a massive achievement for a franchise that seemingly had little to no life after the previous two films.
— TheConnorWebb (@TheConnorWeb) August 13, 2024
While the story isn’t anything special, if you’re any type of fan of the originals, #Romulus is sure to entertain. https://t.co/s8ONbyAZXj pic.twitter.com/mIVBOaz7QK
ALIEN: ROMULUS leans heavily into its horror origins to craft a relentless, visceral thrill ride that starts off slowly and increases in intensity until you’re left gasping for breath by the end. Devoid of any thematic depth, it incorporates so many winks, nods, and moments of… pic.twitter.com/QSKZdj6cwm

Alien: Romulus is a lot to process, so I'm glad we have a little extra time to write our reviews. I generally liked parts of it a lot, as it goes from a slow-build ala the original Alien to absolute craziness on par with Prometheus (which I loved) and other Fede Alvarisms.
— Edward Douglas (@EDouglasWW) August 13, 2024
ALIEN: ROMULUS is thrilling, terrifying, stunning, and unforgettable.
— Anna Klassen (@AnnaJKlassen) August 13, 2024
Fede Alvarez is one of my favorite directors and he did not disappoint.
It’s so gross. And SO GOOD.
#AlienRomulus takes off as one of the best installments of this franchise.
— The Hollywood Handle (@HollywoodHandle) August 13, 2024
A tense, terrifying and chaotic story built with extremely well executed technical pieces that made this experience even more unique.
The cast is excellent, sounds are insane, a must see in theaters. pic.twitter.com/OAd26aavSK
There’s a lot about ALIEN: ROMULUS I like — some truly creative moments in the first two acts that I REALLY dug.
— Jake Hamilton (@JakesTakes) August 13, 2024
However, the finale takes a BIG swing that just didn’t work for me and left me feeling underwhelmed.
A creative but flawed ALIEN film, however:
PROMETHEUS > ROMULUS pic.twitter.com/tFx8cAe88E
ALIEN: ROMULUS is the fifth-best ALIEN movie. Takes too long to get going, overdoes fan service, and risky third act is divisive. D. Jonsson is good but rest of cast is forgettable. Liked it overall but adjust expectations. It’s an above-average Alien movie… and that’s about it.
— Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) August 13, 2024
ALIEN: ROMULUS: Has all the great hallmarks of what you would expect in an Alien flick but never feels like it’s pandering to nostalgia or fan service…and even goes into a crazy new direction. Fede Alvarez & the cast just gave birth to summer’s best movie.
— Borys Kit (@Borys_Kit) August 13, 2024
#AlienRomulus is a bonkers roller coaster ride through the previous six Alien movies, using bits of all them, to tell a focused, mostly standalone story filled with glorious gore & scares. It gets better as it goes along, ending with a phenomenal big swing of a third act. pic.twitter.com/mY8Hkbe0gD

So happy to report @fedalvar’s #AlienRomulus is fantastic. The two hour runtime flies by and both Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson are so good. Loved the use of practical effects. You don’t have to have seen any of the other Alien movies to watch this. But it would help. pic.twitter.com/eo2EZxTNnj
— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) August 13, 2024
I loved #AlienRomulus. Riveting from start to finish w/ surprising emotional stakes & an absolutely stunning third act. Álvarez brings immense style & creativity to the franchise. The practical effects / real sets captured the dark & gritty world of ALIEN beautifully. Tense &… pic.twitter.com/ko2qESEpe8

#AlienRomulus is the first time I have been terrified during one of the Alien movies. Cailee Spaeny's Rain is a perfect character to follow on this journey and through Fede Álvarez's twists and turns, you never really know where Romulus is headed. The 3rd act is truly WILD. I dig… pic.twitter.com/vEaiz5966B

ALIEN ROMULUS scared the sh*t out of me just like the original did! The practical effects are insane aka pure nightmare fuel. Fede Álvarez delivers a blood chilling spectacle. Carnage galore with heart-pounding terror, Aliens fans are going to love it. #AlienRomulus pic.twitter.com/CDVCiMXAOM
— Ashley Saunders (@ThatAshleyErin) August 13, 2024
#AlienRomulus is actually pretty good. Awesome time at the movies. Haunting, effective, intense & has you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Feels like a horror heist movie but also surprisingly emotional. Kills will leave you squirming. Cailee Spaeny, respect the name. pic.twitter.com/4z8Rv6bxzl
— Nick Zednik (@NickZednik) August 13, 2024
#AlienRomulus is Don't Breathe in space. A nasty amalgamation of Scott's prequels & the first two. Fights like hell to find an identity of its own. Sometimes it does (& it's sick & twisted), others it doesn't, but Fede's tactile sets gives us the grittiest, filthiest entry yet! pic.twitter.com/1NddrwWVtA
— Griffin Schiller (@griffschiller) August 13, 2024
Fede Alvarez’s #AlienRomulus is gnarly, gripping & gorgeously bleak (everything from the story to Olivares’ cinematography to Wallfisch’s score). Innovatively delivering smart, savvy stuff, subtly playing the greatest hits. Cailee Spaeny & David Jonsson dominate. This rules! pic.twitter.com/kEuDZku2Oz
— Courtney Howard (@Lulamaybelle) August 13, 2024
Fede Alvarez has outdone himself with his best film yet! #AlienRomulus isn’t just a love letter it’s an amalgamation of the alien franchise as a whole. Beautiful, terrifying, gnarly, weird, twisted, grotesque, gory, & most of all deeply layered with mythology/ideas. I’m a bit… pic.twitter.com/fB48iRnaxU

Really loved #AlienRomulus
— Kenjac (@JackKennedy) August 13, 2024
It’s a phenomenal return to the horror roots of the original with elements of the sequel as well.
Production design/value is A++++.
Scares are well earned and horrifying. Especially in the third act.
One of the best movies of 2024. pic.twitter.com/4lBoWUWLNc
#AlienRomulus: the BEST movie in the franchise since “Aliens,” bringing it back to basics yet feeling fresh thanks to @fedalvar’s direction!
— Reel James (@itsreeljames) August 13, 2024
Not for the faint of heart, as some set pieces will make you queasy. But it WORKS!
Standout here is @davidjonsson__, who stole scenes! pic.twitter.com/H2Ufzsnejv
1. ALIENS
— Kris Tapley (@kristapley) August 13, 2024
2. ALIEN
3. ALIEN: ROMULUS
4. ALIEN³
5. PROMETHEUS
6. ALIEN: COVENANT
7. ALIEN: RESURRECTION
For better and worse, ALIEN: ROMULUS is basically the ROGUE ONE of the ALIEN franchise –– I expect a lot of people to have a good time with this, but it's the first mainline ALIEN movie to not truly be about anything except other ALIEN movies, and I really wished it was more.

#AlienRomulus had me on the edge of my seat with suspense. Fede Alvarez understood the assignment and passed with flying colors. As a fan, I loved the new elements and twists that were introduced. This has breathed new life into the Alien franchise and could be one of the best. pic.twitter.com/ZAt81ddIJa

People having been praising the final act of ALIEN: ROMULUS for weeks now for being disturbing, insane, & incredibly unique.
— Jesabel (@JesabelRaay) August 13, 2024
But I’ve seen many say the final act is what lost them & it’s a creative choice that could be divisive.
It seems like Fede Alvarez took a massive swing…
ALIEN: ROMULUS is mostly … fine for the first two thirds. Though, *really* enjoyed the more gnarly, disturbing, much more unique third act and wish the whole movie had been like that. Also stop playing with these aliens! They seem dangerous! #alienromulus
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) August 13, 2024
ALIEN: ROMULUS plays like a greatest hits of the ALIEN franchise, for better and for worse. But it’s solidly constructed, full of well-placed jump scares, with a delightfully disgusting third act twist. I liked it!
— Hoai-Tran Bui (@htranbui) August 13, 2024
Alien: Romulus pays perfect homage to the original, using practical effects whenever possible. This works so well that the CGI stands out when used. It is slow to start but man, once it gets going, you will be on the edge of your seat until the very end! #AlienRomulus pic.twitter.com/1o3urLGSiV
