Christianity wouldn't be destabilized - not the Apostolic (Catholic / Orthodox) anyway.

The weight of official teaching, mystical traditions, and openness to scientific methods in investigating the material world means:
implicitly and explicitly, there is a framework for understanding and accepting that other creations could and do exist.

Angels / Demons, of course, is the first line of thought, but the revelations of something more materialist like humans could be incorporated without much of an issue.
Got to spread Jesus to the aliens

Regardless, to say aliens wouldn't cause a crisis of faith for some if not many is a fantasy
It's the truth about et and their relationship with religions that might spark a crisis of sorts. We are able to sorta put the pieces together as far as the justification for the extremely maintained cover-up. They knew it back in the '40's, they know it today. Probably the main reason I started a thread on the Politics/World Issues forum years ago.

A very informative interview with Ross Coulthart.

(Followed by Whitley Strieber, whom I have mixed feelings about, but is worth listening to, especially if you follow the inter-dimensional elohims thesis that I do)

My dad, a 91 yo retired nuclear engineer loved to watch sci-fi. I developed a love for the genre. Around 6 yr age I saw something in my bedroom...a red orb dancing around the room. Mom said it was probably a "night-watchman".. I wasn't convinced. Later after graduating from A&M, I saw something fly overhead when I lived at south of CS across from the racetrack. Mesa Verde drive now runs right through where my living room was...lol

Anyways, as an entomologist, sci-fi fan and a tremendous curiosity, at age 64 I made the decision to dig into it as much as I could. Being a Christian, the implications could be disturbing...but no fear, in I dove. The more I dug the more interesting it became. It became clear that there was something to this and someone didn't want the general public to know. But as many thought...the truth embargo would be eventually lifted. I think we are seeing that happen right now.

I again recommend Jimmy Akin's Mysterious World podcast. The archives have excellent discussions of the UAP phenomenon, from the "faith and reason" perspective, with detailed research and high-quality analysis. He is a Catholic apologist that interviews a wide variety of people.

(An interesting aside - UAP now means "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena" and not "aerial," given the many accounts we have concerning water)

I've seen that museum a couple of times. Entertaining.

I've said this before on here, but will repeat. I had occasion to have a long serious conversation with one of the Roswell city leaders a few years ago. After concluding our business, I asked him for his take on the UFO story.

He told me, "I have no personal knowledge, but I know/knew several of those eye witnesses. They are credible people who believe what they said."

It was those interviews of the residents of Roswell that convinced me that something clearly took place other than a weather balloon at Roswell in July of 1947.

For anyone interested, here is a set of interviews of residents of Roswell. I also dug this quote up...interesting...

AFFIDAVIT (1) My name is Thomas Jefferson Dubose (2) My address is: XXXXXXXXXX (3) I retired from the U.S. Air force in 1959 with the rank of Brigadier General. (4) In July 1947, I was stationed at Fort Worth Army Air Field [later Carswell Air Force Base] in Fort Worth, Texas. I served as Chief of Staff to Major General Roger Ramey, Commander, Eighth Air Force. I had the rank of Colonel. (5) In early July, I received a phone call from Maj. Gen. Clements McMullen, Deputy Commander, Strategic Air Command. He asked what we knew about the object which had been recovered outside Roswell, New Mexico, as reported in the press. I called Col. William Blanchard, Commander of the Roswell Army Air Field, and directed him to send the material in a sealed container to me at Fort Worth. I so informed Maj. Gen. McMullen. (6) After the plane from Roswell arrived with the material, I asked the Base Commander, Col. Al Clark, to take possession of the material and to personally transport it in a B-26 to Maj. Gen. McMullen in Washington, D.C. I notified Maj. Gen. McMullen, and he told me he would send the material by personal courier on his plane to Benjamin Chidlaw, Commanding General of the Air Material Command at Wright Field [later Wright Patterson AFB]. The entire operation was conducted under the strictest secrecy. (7) The material shown in the photographs taken in Maj. Gen. Ramey's office was a weather balloon. The weather balloon explanation for the material was a cover story to divert the attention of the press. (8) I have not been paid or given anything of value to make this statement, which is the truth to the best of my recollection. Signed: T. J. Dubose Date: 9/16/91 Signature witnessed by: Linda R. Split Notary Public, State of Florida.

I may have told this story here before. If so SIAP. I was born in Roswell (1966). My grandfather was the assistant fire Marshall for either Roswell FD or at the airbase (I don't remember which right off hand). during the Roswell incident.
Grandad passed away in 1987 and to all the family's knowledge he never spoke about what he saw. One time, a reporter came to her house sometime after he had passed and asked my grandmother if she knew anything about the incident. She told him that nothing happened out there. If it had he would have told her about it because they didn't keep any secrets. My grandfather was a Mason as well so he knew how to keep secrets. I'll never know what he saw, but whatever it was he never told anyone.

During a thunderstorm that swept through Corona County, New Mexico, whatever crashed on Foster Ranch, 80 miles outside of Roswell, crashed there exactly 76 years ago tonight.

The next morning, Mack Brazel, the ranch foreman, discovered an unidentifiable debris field nearly a mile long, strewn across the sheep pasture. He drove to the Roswell sheriff's office the following Sunday, his only day off, to report the incident, the sheriff placed a call to Roswell Army Air Field, and an intelligence officer by the name of Jesse Marcel followed Brazel back to the ranch to inspect the debris field himself.

Everything that happened from that moment on would become the subject of fierce debate, a debate that has stretched decades, and is as strong now as it ever was.

(If you believe the myriad witness testimony, as I do, the second crash site, where the craft itself was found, wasn't discovered until the next day, not by Brazel or Marcel, but by members of the base doing a sweep of the area after Marcel brought back pieces of the mysterious debris.)

It also just so happens that for the first time in years I've had the chance to catch up with work, due in part to the WGA strike, and as of this weekend, I finally have the time to start writing my Roswell movie. I've been researching/outlining it in the background for years, have the entire thing planned out, and now it's high time to actually start writing the damn the thing.

Hopefully, one day in the next few years, I'll get to share it with you guys on the big screen.

Not sure if any of you watch the Theories of Everything channel/ Poscast but it is a good listen. Kurt is a bit dry as math folks tend to be but he has amazing guests and tends to let them speak for themselves.
This episode I am just getting started on but the first 20 minutes have been good. Seems more may be forth coming from Ross Coulthart.

I found Andy McGrillen's "That UFO Podcast" recently. His interviews tend to be fairly well balanced, interesting, and fun. (Be forewarned: his Scottish accent is thicker than haggis.) Here's a recent Q&A he did with Ross Coulthart just prior to Grusch coming forward. Link goes through Overcast. https://overcast.fm/+7AEYxqkPE

Only the broadest outlines are in the film.

The incident as he tells it is more compelling.

I've wondered often if the big secret (at the highest levels) to some of these societies is et related. I would not be surprised at all.

Redstone posted a link to a paper which examines these questions from a logic-based perspective. It's quite good as well as thought provoking. Here's the link:

https://philpapers.org/archive/MCIHDW.pdf

Of particular interest in this forum, several works of speculative fiction are mentioned, notably Shyamalan's "Signs" and Card's "Ender's Game", as arguments against the sort of narrative conflict with Christianity that seems to be the most popular faith-based objection to the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.

Surprisingly, at least to me, the paper doesn't mention James Blish's Hugo award winning classic "A Case of Conscience", which also examines the threat to religious belief posed by extraterrestrial life. I would highly recommend it.

A couple of related points: in the Apostolic (Catholic / Orthodox) tradition, non-terrestrial beings are inherent to the belief system. Meaning: God Incarnate, entertaining angels unaware, and fallen entity interactions - at a minimum - are woven into texts, tradition, and mystical visions.

Vatican officials (Curia a cesspit, sad as it is for me to admit), including accomplished scientists, have speculated about other, more materialist creations (maybe like humans, embodied spirits) …. the non-terrestrial. This is considered compatible with the faith, and Benedict XVI thought so.
